From the Principal
Each week, our teachers nominate a Student of the Week for each grade level who are consistently "Doing the Right Thing" academically and behaviorally.

Last week's BMS Students of the Week are:

Moonhee Kim, Grade 6
Jaxson Day, Grade 7
Lena Leland, Grade 8

There is no school on Wednesday, September 23, for Yom Kippur observance.

BMS will hold the first of four yearly safety drills this week. Throughout the year students will practice shelter in place, lockdown, and evacuation drills.  All safety drills will be conducted with the Beachwood Police Department.

Parent teacher conferences will be held on Wednesday, November 4, and Thursday, November 5, from 4:45 to 8:00 each evening.  The conferences will follow a new format this year.  Parents will meet individually with teachers.  On Monday, October 12, a link will be provided in the weekly newsletter for online sign-up.

All 8th grade parents are invited to attend the Washington, DC, Parent Informational Meeting on Tuesday, October 6, 7 pm, in the BMS auditorium. Representatives from Discovery Tours will be on hand to discuss the field trip and payment information.  The first payment for the 8th grade trip will be due in early November.

The Boosters are a parent volunteer organization dedicated to supporting Beachwood athletics in grades K-12. The boosters support team clinics and camps, community wide spirit and athletic achievement. Join now and BE HERD!

The Beachwood PTO is excited to present a two part lectureship series on: Finding the "AHA!": Developing a Growth Mindset with Your Child.  This is a Free presentation and open to all.  The presentation occurs on Tuesday, October 20, 2015 at 7 pm, in the Beachwood High School Community Room- presented by Ashley Saferight and Meghann Sullivan.

Have you ever looked at your child and wondered how to help them reach their full potential?  Do you want your child to crave challenges, push themselves, and value learning to do new things?  The way you interact with your children has a major impact on the way they think about themselves and perform in school and other activities. Did you know that some praise can actually hinder performance? This interactive workshop will help parents learn about the differences between a fixed mindset and growth mindset, and how to nurture a growth mindset in your child.  We will use real-world examples and interactive activities so that you will walk out the door able to immediately apply what you've learned!

Please remember to save your box tops and drop them off at the elementary schools!

Start saving your belongings now- the Beachwood PTO garage sale is returning spring of 2016!
