Come just to listen or to dance to the blue grass and old time musicians who play every Tuesday and Saturday beginning at 7pm. Admission is $5 on Tuesday and $6 on Saturday. Line Dancing classes are also offered on Monday nights beginning at 6pm. The Jubilee is located on North Main Street, across from the Courthouse.

Drop by Alleghany Chamber of Commerce and Visitors' Center for a brochure. We are in the rock building with the green awning (58 South Main Street, Sparta). Our foyer is always open and a brochure is always available.
Brochures for three driving loops of the Alleghany country-side are available at the Alleghany Chamber of Commerce and Visitors' Center. Each loop is about a leisurely hour's drive and includes information on historic points along the way. The Chamber office is in the rock building with the green awning (58 South Main Street, Sparta). Be sure to visit when planning a trip this Spring or Summer. Open Thursday through Saturday, 10am to 5pm. There's never an admission charge. Stop by to experience local history and to see the new displays, 7 North Main Street, Sparta.
Veterans' Morning Coffee & Breakfast
at the VFW
The VFW hosts an informal full breakfast including, biscuits, gravy, eggs, bacon, sausage, grits, and coffee every Wednesday from 8:30-11am. All veterans are invited to attend.

Sparta Presbyterian Church

Earth Day Litter Clean Up
Want to do something wonderful for Earth Day 2017 (Sat, April 22nd)? Join us for an
Alleghany Litter Clean Up, meeting at Miles Companies (565 Main St), at 9 am.
We'll divide into teams, and tackle litter on our highways and byways. Spend a few hours, to remove ugly litter, to pick up recyclables and take small steps to help the planet.

Cornerstone Christian Fellowship will be have a SONrise service on Sunday, April 16 at 7 AM. There will also be a breakfast offered at 8 AM and a Celebration Service at 9 AM.

3RD ANNUAL BLUE RIDGE GOLF TOURNAMENT The 3rd Annual Blue Ridge Golf Tournament will be held on Friday, April 28th. The tournament will begin at 8 AM and 1:30 PM. Alleghany Writers will be holding their next meeting on Thursday, April 20, from 4 pm until 5:30 pm at the Alleghany County Library. Alleghany Writers creative writing group welcomes all writers, experienced and beginners. Program includes exercises, readings, and discussion on craft. Workshops coming in May! Writing retreat in June. Lots of creative energy! No pressure to participate.
Blue Ridge Spring Gala Dinner
The Blue Ridge Christian School presents the Blue Ridge Spring Gala Dinner on Saturday, April 29th,at 6 PM. This will be a great family event featuring an inspirational speaker, gourmet meal, music, and a silent auction. The dinner is $20 a person and tickets can be purchased at the Alleghany Chamber of Commerce.
VOLUNTEER WORK DAY-TRAIL MAINTENANCE This is a great opportunity for high school students to get the volunteer hours needed for graduation and those that love to help out your state parks. Come and join a ranger on Saturday, April 29 at 9 AM and learn how to maintain the trails here at the 221 access. Bring plenty of water and wear sturdy shoes. Dress for the weather.
