Come just to listen or to dance to the blue grass and old time musicians who play every  Tuesday and Saturday beginning at 7pm. Admission  is $5 on Tuesday and $6 on Saturday. Line Dancing classes are also offered on Monday nights beginning at 6pm. The Jubilee is located on North Main Street, across from the Courthouse.

Local blue grass and old time musicians jam each Monday, 2 blocks north of the Courthouse at the Crouse House in Crouse Park, beginning at 6pm. Come and play or just listen. No charge, but a donation is appreciated. 336-372-5473

Barn Quilt Trails 

Barns and other buildings around the county display squares illustrating quilt patterns and add interest to a driving tour of the countryside. Drop by Alleghany Chamber of Commerce and Visitors' Center for a brochure. We are in the rock building with the green awning (58 South Main Street, Sparta). Our foyer is always open and a brochure is always available.

Driving Loops
Brochures for three driving loops of the Alleghany country-side are available at the Alleghany Chamber of Commerce and Visitors' Center. Each loop is about a leisurely hour's drive and includes information on historic points along the way. The Chamber office is in the rock building with the green awning (58 South Main Street, Sparta). Our foyer is always open and a brochure is always available.
Be sure to visit when planning a trip this Spring or Summer. Open Thursday through Saturday, 10am to 5pm. There's never an admission charge. Stop by to experience local history and to see the new displays, 7 North Main Street, Sparta.

Veterans' Morning Coffee & Breakfast
 at the VFW
The VFW hosts an informal full breakfast including, biscuits, gravy, eggs, bacon, sausage, grits, and coffee every Wednesday from 8:30-11am. All veterans are invited to attend.  Click to learn more .
 
The VFW Military Museum is open to the public, 10am-2pm, every Wednesday and Saturday in the basement of the VFW Post 7034, 1193 US Highway 21 S, Sparta, NC. Admission is free.

Happy Valentine's Day!


The Alleghany Chamber of Commerce would like to wish you and yours a Happy Valentine's Day!
Flag Ceremony: Parkdale Mills


We would like to extend the invitation to our local community groups of Sparta to attend our flag ceremony hosted by the VFW on Friday at 2:30pm.

We are a US manufacturing company that is proud to live here in Sparta, our flag has not been up for almost a year and we are honored to have the VFW preform this duty.

The ceremony will only last a few minutes at the flag poles located in the front lawn of the building. We will meet around the poles at 2:30pm.
Alleghany Democratic Meeting

The Alleghany Democrats will hold their monthly meeting on Wednesday, February 21st, in the Town Hall conference room.  A social time will be held at 6:00 pm with the meeting beginning at 6:30 pm.  All are welcome to attend.

Alleghany County Library Programs:

The Alleghany County Library is looking for youth 12 years old and older to participate in Game Day (note attachment).  Game Day will be held on Mondays from 3:30 pm - 5:30 pm.  Youth must be picked up by a parent by 5:30 pm and a permission sheet must be signed by the parent, which will also include foods that the youth might be allergic to.  Light refreshments will be served at the beginning of each session.
