Ongoing Events and Entertainment
Come just to listen or to dance to the blue grass and old time musicians who play every  Tuesday and Saturday beginning at 7pm. Admission  is $5 on Tuesday and $6 on Saturday. Line Dancing classes are also offered on Monday nights beginning at 6pm. The Jubilee is located on North Main Street, across from the Courthouse.

Barn Quilt Trails 

Barns and other buildings around the county display squares illustrating quilt patterns and add interest to a driving tour of the countryside. Drop by Alleghany Chamber of Commerce and Visitors' Center for a brochure. We are in the rock building with the green awning (58 South Main Street, Sparta). Our foyer is always open and a brochure is always available.

Driving Loops
Brochures for three driving loops of the Alleghany country-side are available at the Alleghany Chamber of Commerce and Visitors' Center. Each loop is about a leisurely hour's drive and includes information on historic points along the way. The Chamber office is in the rock building with the green awning (58 South Main Street, Sparta). Our foyer is always open and a brochure is always available.
Be sure to visit when planning a trip this Spring or Summer. Open Thursday through Saturday, 10am to 5pm. There's never an admission charge. Stop by to experience local history and to see the new displays, 7 North Main Street, Sparta.

Veterans' Morning Coffee & Breakfast
 at the VFW
The VFW hosts an informal full breakfast including, biscuits, gravy, eggs, bacon, sausage, grits, and coffee every Wednesday from 8:30-11am. All veterans are invited to attend.  Click to learn more .
 
The VFW Military Museum is open to the public, 10am-2pm, every Wednesday and Saturday in the basement of the VFW Post 7034, 1193 US Highway 21 S, Sparta, NC. Admission is free.

Chamber Business After Hours

Baywood Boys BBQ will be having a Business After Hours on April 6th, from 5 PM until 7 PM. There will be drinks and snacks. Everyone is welcome to come and experience what the Baywood Boys Restaurant is all about.

Chamber Clean Up Day!

There will be a clean up day March 30th from 4:30- 6 PM and April 1st at 10 AM at the Chamber of Commerce to get the back building cleaned out and ready for the new renovation! 
Volunteers are needed and very much appreciated!

Tickets for the 8th Annual Empty Bowls on April 10, 2017 are available for sale now at the Chamber of Commerce. Tickets are $30 each and all proceeds go to the Children's Feeding Program.

Free Community Screening at the Library

The Alleghany Library Lunch 'n Learn

Whitehead Community Building Annual Spring
 Fundraise r

Whitehead Community Building in Whitehead is having their Annual
  Spring Fundraiser on Friday, March 31, starting at 5 PM. They will have hot dogs, hamburgers, chips, drinks and desserts
 available for purchase. At 6 PM there will be Bluegrass music, auction, and a cake walk. At 8 PM they will be raffling off a beautiful handmade quilt. The quilt can be seen at the Barber Shop on Main St. and raffle tickets are available at this location as well. Alleghany County Rescue Squad is
having a chicken & pork BBQ on Saturday, April 1st. BBQ will be ready at the Rescue Squad Building on Trojan Ave. We will also offer free "Hands Only CPR" classes starting at 9 AM. All proceeds will go to support the Alleghany County Non-profit Volunteer Rescue Squad.

Create your very own Fairy Friendly Lantern at the Alleghany County Public Library! Join us on the first Wednesday of each month at 10:30 am for a brand new Make It & Take It Craft! Bat Workshop

Participants will learn about the bat species that occur in North Carolina, netting and monitoring programs including a demonstration if possible, acoustic recording surveys and white-nosed and other health related management concerns on
April 5th, from 10-4PM.  Please come dressed for the weather as this entire workshop will be held outside. This six hour workshop will count towards Criteria II, III or Continuing Education credit for the NC EE Certification program. Please bring a packed lunch and plenty of water; there are no food options near the park.
