CITY DEPARTMENTS
Department of Public Works
For all Special and Bulk Trash collections, appointments are required. The Department has been experience high volumes of special trash collection requests for bulk trash, brush and electronic recycling for pick up on Thursdays and Fridays. Prior to placing bulk trash at the curb, please contact the Department for an appointment.

The Four Cities Street Sweeper will continue to sweep streets citywide over the next two weeks (July 16 - 20 and 23 - 27). Look for signs posted in your neighborhood, and try to park off the road during these dates. Parking in your driveway and off the street allows for the most efficient sweeping in the neighborhoods.

Utility work along the Trolley Trail in the Berwyn and Lakeland neighborhoods is planned for this month. Work should begin on or about Monday, July 23 and will include the installation of a new overhead cable above the trail. This work will require the closure of the trail due to the quantity of equipment needed to install the new cable. The new cable will run from Greenbelt Rd to Berwyn House Rd. Additional information regarding this project will be released when details become available.

Crews performed routine maintenance by power washed the Parking Garage stairwells and sidewalks this week.

Mosquito Control
  • The City of College Park cooperates with the Maryland Department of Agriculture (MDA) to identify and control mosquito populations. Larviciding treatments are made by MDA personnel to known areas of standing water to control mosquito larva that will prevent development into adult mosquitoes. Spraying to control adult mosquitoes will continue through September. Wednesday night is the designated day when spraying for adult mosquitoes may occur in College Park. MDA doesn’t spray individual properties; they treat neighborhoods that meet certain thresholds.
  • MDA has initiated a new mosquito complaint procedure; click here to provide your information.
For any information related to refuse, recycling, or other Public Works related items, contact the Department at:
