SMART Tuition
Thank you to all the Armstrong families as we work together to transition to SMART tuition, our new tuition billing and online payment system.  This new system will provide families with easy visibility into their Armstrong tuition and non-tuition payments, and will significantly improve the efficiency of the Armstrong business office.  All payments this upcoming school year will be through this system, so please make sure you are registered using the following steps.
 
1.         Go to the Smart Parent Login page: https://parent.smarttuition.com/
2.         Click on "First time user?" in the green box
3.         To find your account, you will need two of the following:
  •  email address used to set up Smart account
  • telephone number entered at account setup
  •   Family ID that was assigned at account setup
Please keep in mind that any payments due for the current school year should still be paid directly to Armstrong.  We are here to help you if you need any assistance.  If you have any tuition billing questions, contact Madonna Uyenoyama at (650) 592-7570 ext. 1228 or email muyenoyama@charlesarmstrong.org.

Armstrong's production of Disney's The Lion King, Jr. is roaring into the Bayside Performing Arts Center on Friday, May 5th at 7 PM and Saturday, May 6th at 6 PM! Our students have been working hard, bringing tremendous joy and enthusiasm to this vibrant show full of music, dance, humor, and drama. You won't want to miss it! All students are invited to participate in the upcoming Spirit Day on Friday, May 12th. The theme for the day will be Carnival Day. Students are invited to take part in activities such as:
  • Free dress
  • Free carnival games such as ring toss, ladder toss, and minute to win it competitions
  • Pie a teacher for $1.00 per pie
  • Snow cones will be sold for $1.00 each
  • Additional snacks and bake sale items will be sold for $1.00 each

Thirteen Reasons Why : What You Need To Know About a Popular Netflix Series Geared Towards Teens

Dear Armstrong Families, 
 
We wanted to bring a pop-culture related topic to your attention. Recently, a new popular TV series became available to view on Netflix. The series is titled Thirteen Reasons Why. This series is geared towards teens and includes some disturbing and sensitive material. The show is directed toward a teenage audience and is not meant as light entertainment for teens to watch independent of an adult. As a community, we recognize that some of our students may have heard about the show. We also realize that many of our families have teenage children who have either seen this series, or are interested in viewing it.
Thirteen Reasons Why   chronicles the story of a teenage girl who has committed suicide. While the story is intended to help parents engage in conversation with their child surrounding some difficult teen issues like bullying, suicide, depression, etc. the show's content may be upsetting and confusing for many viewers. The content may be beyond what some adolescents are able to emotionally process.  
Check to see if your child has seen Thirteen Reasons Why. If they have, ask them to process the show with you. What was the show about? What messages stuck out to them? What concerns or questions do they have about the content?

Some Teacher Auction Items still for sale - Wednesday, May 10
 
One of Armstrong's new and beloved traditions is the Teacher Auction Items.  On an early dismissal day Armstrong faculty offer an opportunity for Armstrong students to join them for a memorable out of class experience.  Each student can only do ONE activity on May 10 th .
To sign up - contact Jill Jacobson in the Development Office by calling 650-592-7570 ext 1265, emailing  jjacobson@charlesarmstrong.org  or stopping by the Admin Offices in Room 1.  Payment can be made with a check, cash or on a credit card.  Space is available on a first-come, first-served basis.  Each student can only do ONE activity on May 10th.

As a reminder, in order to ensure availability for your child, please register and make payment for the Charles Armstrong Summer School Program as soon as possible.   Registration has opened to the outside community.  Enrollment will then be contingent upon space available.  You may register now by clicking here and completing the registration form.   *Full payment is due at the time of registration.
 
Dates of Summer School: July 5, 2017 - July 28, 2017 for rising 2nd-7th graders 
 
Morning Academic Program - includes Language Arts, Math and Strength-Based classes
8:30 - 12:30, Monday -Friday
Tuition is $2,750
 
Afternoon Camp Program
12:30pm - 4:30pm, Monday - Friday
Tuition is $1,650
The afternoon camp may only be selected when enrolling in the Morning Academic Program.

ATTENTION PARENTS: 
 Please sign into Student Services prior to going to your child's classroom or anytime you're on campus. 
You are required to sign in at Student Services for safety reasons. Also, we appreciate knowing ahead of time if your child needs to leave early. This will help minimize interruptions during the school days.

Please write your child's name
and classroom # on all
sweatshirts and jacket!!
Each week the bin is emptied.
Labeled clothing is washed and
returned to the classrooms.
Clothing that is not labeled is
donated to the Uniform Bank.

Attendance:
Please remember to phone in your child's absence to the Attendance Line at 650-592-7570 Option 1 by 9:00am each day your child is absent, going to be late, or out of the classroom for testing or vacation. Please State:
1) Child's Name
2) Child's Classroom
3) Reason for Absence

Important Safety Reminder:
For the safety of our students, please remember they must
exit your car at drop-off only from the passenger side. 
Please  DO NOT
 use cell phones when driving onto campus.
