August 8, 2015 10:00 am to 6:00 pm Please sign up! Vendors, Sponsors, Musicians, and Volunteers Tamales are traditional to New Mexico and every family believes their recipe is the best. Now there is a venue to prove it and earn state wide bragging rights for a year!
This will be the first ever tamale cook-off of Northern New Mexico. The gates will open to the public at 10:00 am. This festival will include the Tamale Cook-Off, Tamale Tastings and a Tamale Eating Contest. There will be a booth about Tamale History and an assortment of other food vendors throughout the grounds, as well as drink vendors and beer and wine gardens. The Moreno Valley Arts Council has teamed up with this event by adding "Arts About Town" to the venue. We believe it will add to the
festivities. Already signed up are handcrafted
items including art, wind chimes, and jewelry.
There will also be other booths that have commercial items for sale. The Shuter Library will have a booth where you can buy books from local authors and have them signed and handmade greeting cards! Even the booths themselves will be fun. Awards will be given for the most festively decorated booth (this is optional) and the most creative team name! And we will crown Molly & Wally Tamale! The younger crowd will have hands on fun making corn husk dolls and paper mache tamales in the Kids Zone. Various entertainment will be proved for your enjoyment throughout the day. People are asked to bring lawn chairs for The Battle of the Bands that will take place from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm.
Habla Tamale Cook-Off Festival will be fun for the entire family. We have been running radio and t.v spots all over the state of New Mexico for the past few weeks. Since it is the first time we have done the event, we can't predict the number of attendees, but we are optimistic.
We still have room for many more vendors, both tamale cooks, other food vendors, and misc. vendor booths. If you know of anyone who would like to participate please let us know. For more detailed information call 575-377-6353, we'd be glad to answer any questions.
Visit Habla Tamale Cook-off Festival and click the Habla Tamale tab at the top for a complete list of the guidelines. We'd love to have you participate and hope to hear from you soon. If you know of anyone else who might like to reserve a booth, enter the battle of the bands, or sponsor please tell them to sign up, too! And we need lots of volunteers! If you would like to volunteer there will be a meeting at 9:00 am Tues. July 21 immediately following the Quarterly Membership Breakfast meeting. Thank you, The Angel Fire Chamber of Commerce
