Over the last few weeks, we’ve been doing a sermon series on prayer – what it means to be connected to the creator of everything through prayer, and last week we talked about how being close to God in prayer changes us – our hearts, our attitudes, our relationships and our actions. This Sunday we’ll take a look at what the power of prayer.
The scriptures tell us there is power in prayer, in
Matthew 7:7, Jesus teaches,
Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.
And later in Mark 11:24, he says,
therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.
In James 5:16, it says that
the prayers of a righteous person are powerful and effective.
Sounds simple, pray it and get it. But we know that we don’t always get what we ask for in prayer. So how do we make sense of what the scriptures say about prayer, power and our real life experiences?
Come on Sunday and let’s begin to unpack what it means to plug into the power of prayer.
