Tom Lenhart will preach on Martin Luther King Jr. Sunday.

Church School will be available for children age 3 to 5th grade. Children begin worship in the Sanctuary with their parents, then go to Church School following the Time for Children.

Nursery Care is available for those under the age of 2.

Welcome, Tom Lenhart!

Rev. Tom Lenhart is serving as our Sabbatical Minister through Easter Sunday, April 1, 2018 while Tim Tutt is away.

Tom and his wife, Lynn (who once served as Director of Christian Education here at Westmoreland), were active members here starting in 1978 up until Tom left his work as a lawyer to attend Harvard Divinity School from 2002 to 2005. Tom was ordained in 2005, then served as the minister at First Congregational Church of Chappaqua, NY. After retiring from that role, Tom served as the interim Senior Minister at Plymouth Congregational Church in Brooklyn.

Olive Oil Ministry Meeting - Sunday, January 14 at 2:00 pm

Westmoreland will host a meeting of the Olive Oil Ministry partnership on January 14th from 2:00 to
4:00 pm. We have an unparalleled opportunity to hear how our work selling olive oil has helped meet the objectives of the Olive Oil Ministry. We will have four speakers:

  • Kay Plitt, Finance Director, Friends of Tent of Nations North America (FOTONNA), will talk about Tent of Nations ongoing challenges and how our donations have been put to use
  • Emily Siegel, Program Director of Interfaith Peace-Builders, will speak about their work and how our donations have been used for scholarships.
  • Sheena Foster, scholarship recipient, will talk about her experiences as member of the IFPB Olive Harvest Delegation in October-November 2017.
  • Jaquial Durham, scholarship recipient, will talk about his experiences as a member of the IFPB Olive Harvest Delegation in October-November 2017.

All church members are invited! Simple refreshments will be served. Olive oil, soap and tapenade will be available if you wish to restock.
New Orchestra of Washington’s Family Concert -
Monday, January 15 at 11:00 am

All are invited to the New Orchestra of Washington’s Family Concert on Monday, January 15 at 11:00 am here at Westmoreland, featuring “Labertino” by Alejandro Hernandez-Valdez and “Carnival of the Animals” by Camille Saint-Saens. This family-friendly concert will include a ‘musical petting zoo’ after the concert, with a pizza lunch to follow.

Westmoreland’s 2018 Children and Youth Musical: “It's a Hit!”

All children and youth are invited to participate in the Westmoreland musical, “It's a Hit!,” on May 6, 2018 at 10:00 am.
 
Information about the musical will be provided on Sunday, January 21 at 9:00 am in the Mabry Room, including details about a unique group role for youth (6th grade thru 12th grade).

Auditions for parts will take place on Sunday, January 28 at 9:00 am in the Mabry Room. Regular rehearsals will be on Sunday mornings from 9:00 am to 9:45 am for children, and additional dates (TBA) for youth.

Youth Spring Break Retreat - Beach House, Boat, Sun, and God

All 6th through 12th graders are invited to the Youth Spring Break Retreat in Emerald Isle, NC from March 24 to 28, 2018. The cost per youth will be between $100-$200. RSVP by January 13, 2018 to [email protected] . The trip needs a minimum of 10 youth to be viable!
Youth Summer Mission Trip

We are returning to Hazard, KY to work with the Housing Development Alliance. The trip is scheduled for June 24-30, 2018. The cost per youth will be $100. All youth going must have completed 6th grade. If you have any questions or concerns, be sure to ask the youth who went last year about the experience! RSVP by March 18, 2018 to [email protected] .
Leaders and Helpers Needed to Teach Church School
Every week, we need one leader and one helper to teach Church School for the preschool class, the K - 2nd grade class, and the 3rd - 5th grade class. Click on the link below for more information or to sign up!

Flowers add beauty and meaning to our Sunday worship service. Individuals or families may sign up for a date to donate with a dedication in the worship bulletin. Sign Up to Host Coffee Hour
Coffee Hour is a time to welcome guests and to strengthen relationships within our church community. This ministry is vital to the life, spirit, and growth of our church. Beverages (coffee, tea, water, juice/lemonade) and tableware are provided by Westmoreland. Food is a welcome addition and is provided by Coffee Hour Host(s). Please sign up to host coffee hour (once per year is recommended) with your family or pair-up with another member of the church.
