High School Youth Group Meets Sunday, June 3

The St. Alban's Youth Group will meet for the last time of this program year on Sunday, June 3 from 3:30 - 5 pm. This will be an opportunity to say goodbye to our seniors as well as welcome the rising ninth graders. If you have questions, please contact Holly Clark

On the first and third Sundays of the month from 3:30-5 pm, our high schoolers gather to spend time with one another.

Our gatherings make space for getting to know one another and to explore our faith through times of fun and games, food and fellowship, and conversation and prayer. The High School Youth Group goes on retreats, spends extended time together in overnights at the church, and participates in mission trips.

Holly Clark, Anne Sedlack, and Peter Durin are the adults primarily involved with our high school youth group.

As the Church calendar slips into what is known as Ordinary Time, that long and sunny stretch of the year, we are invited to work and pray without festivals or any particular pageantry, but with steady, relaxed, sincere faith. It's a good thing to take some time for ordinary friendships, reading, listening and praying, along with exercise, and service...good to experience our constant and present God in the enduring, regular features of our lives together, the extraordinary in the ordinary.

Maine is a good place for our Ordinary Time. We are blessed to be here.

E.B. White lived in Brooklin, Maine where we have our family cottage. He wrote:

What happens to me when I cross the Piscataqua and plunge rapidly into Maine at a cost of seventy-five cents in tolls? I cannot describe it. I do not ordinarily spy a partridge in a pear tree, or three French hens, but I do have the sensation of having received a gift from a true love.

God's true love of us is given in the ordinary features of this extraordinary life. Look for it; it's right there!

  Help has arrived!
Welcome Shawn Evelyn

Our Summer Seminarian Shawn Evelyn has arrived and will serve with us for ten weeks.

Big thanks to Peter Durgin who is able to provide housing for Shawn!

Shawn will be a rising senior at Virginia Theological Seminary and is a postulant for Holy Orders from the Episcopal Diocese of Los Angeles. He expects to be ordained a deacon and then priest and to serve in parish life.

Summer Formation

Summer Fun and Formation!

Starting May 27 children ages 4- 6th grade are invited to join in some summer Sunday School fun!

We will start each morning with a Bible story from the week's scripture lessons and open ended craft time.

Then, we will enjoy some fun and fellowship outside. Children will rejoin their families in worship during the Passing of the Peace.

Contact Katie Holicky if you have any questions or would like to help out.    [email protected]

Adult Confirmation is coming your way this summer...

Stay tuned for an announcement of Adult Confirmation Class to be led by our new Assistant Rector Holly Clark and our summer seminarian Shawn Evelyn.

This six-part class will be open to any inquiring adult of the parish and is particularly designed for those who wish to join the church with a fresh adult confirmation of our faith. If you have been confirmed in another Christian denomination, you may be "received" into the Episcopal Church.

If you are already confirmed in the Episcopal Church this class will be great to refresh your grasp of our flavor of Christianity including our perspective on the history, practice, mystery, theology and hope that is uniquely Anglican and Episcopal.

This is some Homily on Love!
'There's power in love': Read and hear the words of the Bishop Michael Curry presiding bishop of the Episcopal Church in the United States, who spoke at the wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

By the Grace of God

Enriching Our Worship Continues!
St. Alban's has begun a parish-wide project to enhance and celebrate
our liturgy, worship and music for all ages and for all the seasons ahead.

And what a great beginning!
  • A group of nearly 60 parishioners spent most of Saturday, May 5 th with a wonderful guide, Ellen Johnston--director of The Center on Liturgy and Music at Virginia Episcopal Seminary. We shared laughter and song as we worked and prayed to imagine how to enhance our worship together. So many constructive, creative, fun and faithful ideas were joyfully raised!
  • Since then, a working team of twenty has been digging into three key topics: the content of worship and music, the dreams for children's worship, and the options for organs and instruments...all in hopes of discerning how we might strengthen our beloved worship and music.
  • During this formative time, please reach out to any of the committee members to let us know what you love about our worship and what you might want to enhance in the seasons to come.
  • Please feel free to share your thoughts and dreams with your Enriching our Worship Working Group by email at [email protected] Or, if you'd prefer, Fr. Tim and/or Jim Strand will confidentially listen to any worship ideas you have!
To keep you in the loop, Notes from meetings and other resources can be found on the parish website.
