October 19,  2017

It's a real joy to remember the saints of our lives, those who in small ways and large have helped us move forward in life, often onto the sacred ground where we could live more fully. You know who these saints are for you...a teacher, parent, friend, mentor or guide. Someone, whether remote or near, who inspired, healed or led you.

Each year on All Saint's Day we remember and honor these good folks. And...this season at St. Alban's we remember our saints of the past as we make our pledges for the future.

It's my prayer that this combination of looking backward with gratitude and forward in hope will resonate with you, and that you will name your saints while you  make your pledge with joy.

I hope you have received in person or by mail, the special invitation and return card that will help you do both of these things, name your saints and make your 2018 pledge of time, talent and treasure to St. Albans. Please plan to bring your return pledge card with saints names to church on November 5 th . You can pick up a pledge packet at church anytime, or ask that one be mailed.

If you'd like us to receive your saints names by email, simply send them in here: [email protected]

If you'd like to make your pledge online please click here.

Blessings and thanks,

High School Youth Group
On the first and third Sundays of the month from 3:30-5 pm, our high schoolers gather to spend time with one another.

Our gatherings make space for getting to know one another and to explore our faith through times of fun and games, food and fellowship, and conversation and prayer. The High School Youth Group goes on retreats, spends extended time together in overnights at the church, and participates in mission trips.

Holly Clark, Anne Sedlack, and Peter Durin are the adults primarily involved with our high school youth group.

We are excited for the year ahead and all the possibilities it holds.
Children's Formation
October is Safe Church month for us here at
St. Alban's!
This online training helps to ensure we all hold the same ethic of care for each other in our community. Everyone working with children,  and those making pastoral care visits are required to have completed the Safe Church training. Have you done the Episcopal Diocese of Maine Online Safe Church training in the last year? If not, please complete the training and turn your "certificate" into Katie Holicky,
Minister of Family Formation.

Coffee Hour...we all love it., but it doesn't just happen...
Be a Host or a Baker or
Wash a load of laundry

THANK YOU! ALL WHO HAVE SIGNED UP!
However, we still need more help ... Helping with Coffee Hour is a simple and fun way to support
our Saint Alban's community!

Be a HOST Hosts need only bring cream for coffee and fruit .  Everything else provided.  Hosts set-up, maintain coffee, and clean up afterwards.

Not up to hosting just yet?  That's okay, too!

Be a BAKER  Bakers are essential! Provide two baked items such as a banana bread, cookies or brownies.  (Feel free to drop off any time during the week)

 WASH A LOAD OF LAUNDRY
Volunteers are needed to do just one load of laundry before the following Sunday.  Table cloths and hand towels need cleaning.   No ironing required! Phew!

 Long John Sunday
October 29th

Jubilee Center/Essentials Pantry
The crew from the Jubilee Center/Essentials Pantry ministry is collecting long underwear to keep our neighbors from far off ports of call (where no snow ever falls) warm this winter.

While local store supplies are fresh, please purchase a package or two of thermal or insulated tops, bottoms, or socks for women, children or men. Any size or gender of long johns are welcome! Our Essential Pantry neighbors come in all sizes!

Or...donate "pieces of eight" by writing a check: made out to St. Alban's Episcopal Church with memo line, "Long John Sunday".

On "Long John Sunday," October 29th, our gifts will be received, blessed and sent on their warming way!
