Pattern of Robust GDP Continues
GDP growth for the fourth quarter shifted slightly down from the third quarter, but it remained at a strong 2.6 % in the final quarter of 2017. Annualized, GDP growth has averaged 3% over the past three quarters.

US Personal Income Rises in December
U.S. personal income rose by 0.4% in December after climbing 0.3% in November, while wages also increased 0.5% last month. Consumer spending also rose 0.4% in December, which helped to offset a drag from trade and inventories in the fourth quarter. Consumer spending accounts for more than two-thirds of U.S. economic activity.
