Parent Orientations next Tuesday and Thursday!
Parent Orientation exists to give parents and teachers a time to discuss the goals, expectations, and operations of their specific classes. Teachers give brief presentations (approximately 15 minutes) introducing themselves, outlining the classroom schedule, the curriculum, discipline, goals for the year, and other items helpful to parents. There is also time provided throughout the evening when individual parents can speak with their child's teacher. If you have students in multiple grades, you may want to split up to attend all sessions.

In addition to teacher presentations, the Head of School will also talk with parents in the Middle School Science Classroom. The same presentation will be given during each of the time slots so parents can attend any of the three times that works with the schedule. Childcare is not provided.

Tuesday evening is the Kindergarten through 5th grade Parent Orientation night. The schedule is as follows:

Volunteer Screening Process Information
If you anticipate volunteering at Heritage at any point this year (driving for field trips, serving lunch, coaching, etc.), you will need to complete a Volunteer Application/Background Check. This can be done online at our website (bottom left of the home page, click on the Volunteer Application button) or click here. Even if you did this last year, you will need to do it again for this school year. Once you bring up the application, choose the Volunteer option at the bottom and then choose whether you would like to have driving responsibilities or not and proceed with the application. Remember that for driving you will also need to turn a copy of your drivers' license and current insurance declarations page (showing policy limits, dates of coverage, name and vehicle(s) insured) to Kathy in the office. If you have questions about the process, feel free to contact Brenda Wichhart (wichhartb@hcs-nl.com) or Lisa Turnbough (turnboughl@hcs-nl.com) in the office.
Welcome back to school! The Eagles have started their sports season with soccer and volleyball practices earlier this week. This fall Head Coach Scott Montgomery and Assistant Coach Carlos Medina will be leading the 7/8th Soccer team and Head Coach Sarah Franje will be leading the 5/6th Volleyball team. We are excited to see what the Eagles can do this year. Go Eagles!

We invite you to cheer on the Eagles Soccer team as they compete at the Cougar Classic Soccer Tournament on Saturday, August 26 in Atkins, IA. We hope to see you there!
