Advent Devotional contributors wanted
Written and artistic submissions from all ages are invited
Here's a great opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to the faith life of First Presbyterian Church this coming Advent season. We are once again compiling an Advent Devotional, and we invite you to share your thoughts and meditations on Advent scripture with your First Pres family.

This year's theme is the ancient concept of the Jesse Tree, the family tree of Jesus. It is based on the book of Isaiah, chapter 11, verse 1, and other scriptures that point to the ancestry of Jesus. Don't worry, guidance will be provided. P lease contact Kris Mainellis  to express your interest and get going on your assignment! We need all devotions to be created and turned in no later than Friday, October 21.
God in Science
Revealing God's work through science
Week 3 in Alex Lang's new sermon series, God in Science, is coming up this Sunday: "The Science of Perception." Watch last Sunday's sermon: " The Science of Environment." Each week, come and see how, by understanding science, we can gain deeper insight into the God we worship every Sunday.
Online giving
Did you know there are five different, convenient methods to support First Pres missions and ministries? Gifts can be made with cash ; check ; text message; electronic funds transfer (EFT) ; or by charging a debit or credit card account through online giving . You can access this powerful, secure (SSL) tool right on the Home page at fpcah.org. Just click on Online Giving

Through Online Giving, you can make one-time gifts or recurring gifts; select a fund (operating expenses, memorial gifts, or special funds); and manage your scheduled giving (e.g., weekly, every two weeks, monthly, etc.), selecting the day of the week for payment and choosing your start and stop dates. It's easy to get started. Contact Debbie Walter, business administrator, with questions about any of the ways to support First Pres.

Collecting healthy foods through November 13
Please donate healthy, nonperishable foods during October and November (through 11/13) for families served by Christopher House and Firman Community Services, two local organizations that help families in need. Deposit items into the containers in the Narthex. Lighter, boxed foods (not expired) are easier for these agencies' clients to carry on public transportation. Thanks for helping many families have a joyful holiday! Questions? Contact Jody Stanhope at 847-259-8054.
