We pray for...
  • civil discourse grounded in respect;
  • refugees, immigrants and those without a home.
  • The search for a new bishop and rector: Merciful God giver of every good gift: Look graciously on your Church, and so guide the minds of those who shall choose a bishop for this Diocese and a rector for this parish, that we may receive a faithful pastor, who will care for your people and equip us for our ministries; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Game night - cancelled
Our May game night has been cancelled. We will  return to play this fun game at our regular time next month Friday, June 10.
Update from the Nominating Committee
We are happy to share that we have completed our parish profile answers and the rector search brochure.  These will both be presented to the Vestry on May 12th for their approval.   The committee will meet again on May 19th with our search consultant for discuss our next steps.
Next S.A.G.E.S. meeting
S.A.G.E.S. will meet Thursday, May 17 at noon for their monthly potluck lunch.  Come, bring a salad, casserole, bread or dessert to serve 5 or 6 and enjoy the good food and fellowship.  Noel and Mary Ann Davis will share information about the Carlsbad Caverns.  For the summer months, S.A.G.E.S. will be going out to lunch, so if that appeals to you, come join us.  We'd love to have you.
Community Dinner!
Our next Community Meal is scheduled for June 22.  There are no cooks scheduled after that yet so there are lots of opportunity to anyone who wants to be a chef at least once.  You pick the menu and We can help you do the rest, so if you want to cook for our community, let Darrell Priddy know, and we will figure out what and how much help you can use and we  will get it taken care of.

Next month, no Community Meal is scheduled, but the Cursillo Movement is having fundraiser dinner and silent auction here on May 19th. The menu is French(ish) with appetizers, a six course dinner (seven if you count both desserts separately). Tickets are on sale for $25.00 and Steve Cifone has purchase information.  You are welcome to join us in Paris for an evening of fine dining.
Education for Ministry (EfM)
Every baptized person is called to ministry. The Education for Ministry (EfM) program provides people with an opportunity to discover how to respond to the call to Christian service and carry out their ministries. It is a four-year theological education program of the School of Theology of the University of the South in Sewanee, TN. Participants commit one year at a time to meet weekly in 2.5 hour seminars led by a trained mentor. The seminars furnish an opportunity to deepen ones understanding of the reading materials which, over the four years, cover the Bible, church history, and theology . More important is the development of skills in theological reflection. In a conversational, wondering, and musing environment, participants examine their own beliefs and their relationships to our culture and the tradition of our Christian faith. Through this process participants learn what it means to be effective ministers in the world. The program will start at the beginning of September and last nine months. Tuition is $375/yr and assistance is available. If this sounds of interest to you, please contact Brian Belanger at 480-948-3420 for more information.

We aspire to be an accepting community in which people will know Jesus Christ through worship, prayer, spiritual formation and fellowship. We hope our community will encourage all to use their God given gifts to serve others in the name of Christ.

Faithfully,

St. Stephen's Episcopal Church
