We pray for...
  • the victims of mass shootings;
  • civil discourse grounded in respect;
  • refugees, immigrants and those without a home.
  • The search for a new bishop and rector: Merciful God giver of every good gift: Look graciously on your Church, and so guide the minds of those who shall choose a bishop for this Diocese and a rector for this parish, that we may receive a faithful pastor, who will care for your people and equip us for our ministries; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Habitat In-Gathering Time THIS WEEKEND!
Thank you all for filling your house banks during this year's Lenten season.  We will gather up your generous donations on the weekend after Easter - April 7th and 8th.  We will have a special container at the altar for your house banks on these dates.  If you wish to bring a check instead of your house bank, please make it out to "Habitat for Humanity Central Arizona", with "St. Stephen's Episcopal Church" on the subject line.  We prefer checks for the in-gathering, as they will save our counters a lot of time.  They will also allow you to take your federal deduction and your state tax credit.  We will, of course, welcome cash in the house banks if that is how you wish to contribute.

Thank you for supporting our Habitat Ministry

The Movie Lovers Gathering will be tomorrow at 1:00 p.m. at Shea Harkins, 7354 E. Shea Blvd. The movie this month is Stephen Spelberg's, Ready Player One. A synopsis follows:

Synopsis:  From filmmaker Steven Spielberg comes the science fiction action adventure Ready Player One, based on Ernest Cline's bestseller of the same name, which has become a worldwide phenomenon.The film is set in 2045, with the world on the brink of chaos and collapse. But the people have found salvation in the OASIS, an expansive virtual reality universe created by the brilliant and eccentric James Halliday (Mark Rylance). When Halliday dies, he leaves his immense fortune to the first person to find a digital Easter egg he has hidden somewhere in the OASIS, sparking a contest that grips the entire world. When an unlikely young hero named Wade Watts (Tye Sheridan) decides to join the contest, he is hurled into a breakneck, reality-bending treasure hunt through a fantastical universe of mystery, discovery and danger.
Community Dinners return in April!
We missed February because we didn't have a cook, and we didn't last month because it was Good Friday.
Save the date, Friday, April 27. A menu hasn't been chosen yet, so keep checking here for information.
A sign up sheet is will be outside the sanctuary.

We have cooks for May but still need cooks for the rest of the year, so remember you can cook with a little help from your friends. You can reach out to Darrell Priddy via phone, email or after church with any questions or if you want to get involved!
Education for Ministry (EfM)
Every baptized person is called to ministry. The Education for Ministry (EfM) program provides people with an opportunity to discover how to respond to the call to Christian service and carry out their ministries. It is a four-year theological education program of the School of Theology of the University of the South in Sewanee, TN. Participants commit one year at a time to meet weekly in 2.5 hour seminars led by a trained mentor. The seminars furnish an opportunity to deepen ones understanding of the reading materials which, over the four years, cover the Bible, church history, and theology . More important is the development of skills in theological reflection. In a conversational, wondering, and musing environment, participants examine their own beliefs and their relationships to our culture and the tradition of our Christian faith. Through this process participants learn what it means to be effective ministers in the world. The program will start at the beginning of September and last nine months. Tuition is $375/yr and assistance is available. If this sounds of interest to you, please contact Brian Belanger at 480-948-3420 for more information.
Lyle's address
Lyle continues to recover well from his heart transplant surgery but will need to remain in Utah for some time. If anyone would like to send a card or care package to Lyle and/or Meghan while they're away from home, their address is 6425 S. 3000 E., Holladay, UT 84121. Please continue to hold them in your prayers as well!

We aspire to be an accepting community in which people will know Jesus Christ through worship, prayer, spiritual formation and fellowship. We hope our community will encourage all to use their God given gifts to serve others in the name of Christ.

Faithfully,

St. Stephen's Episcopal Church
