TAX UPDATES
1st May - New Union Customs Code - Authorisation for a Comprehensive Guarantee
On the 1st May the new Union Customs Code comes into effect. Authorisation for a Comprehensive Guarantee is part of the new procedure. It will enable you to:
  • Amalgamate all of your current customs bonds and guarantees under one comprehensive guarantee
  • Subject to meeting specific criteria, apply for a reduction or waiver in the amount of guarantee for debt which may be incurred
  • Reduce to 30% the amount of guarantee for debt which has been incurred where you hold the status of Authorised Economic Operator Simplified (AEOC)

Guidelines for use by both the Trade and internally within Revenue are being drafted and will issue shortly. Read more here.

EMPLOYER DISABILITY INFORMATION
New Employer Disability Information Service 
The new Employer Disability  Information Service, which is a  centrally based  national resource  for advice and information for  employers is now available, based  here in ISME. The purpose is to  provide employers with an expert  peer source of advice and  information on employing staff with  disabilities and to promote  increased employment of people  with disabilities. The service will  provide a dedicated phone helpline  and website. For further

OTHER SME NEWS
Following on from the successful launch and roll out of InterTradeIreland's Funding for Growth Programme in 2015, two Meet the Funder events will be held on April 26th & 28th 2016. 
Both events are aimed at companies with ambitions to grow providing information on and access to a range of funding providers and advice on how to approach the funding process.

Public Banking Conference 2016
Community Banking - Banking and Money Reform Conference takes place in the Aishling Hotel, Dublin - 29th April 2016  with Prof Richard Werner

Booking in advance is advised as spaces are limited. 
Enterprise Ireland are running a competition for start-ups that are currently based outside Ireland.  Investment of €50k for a 10% equity stake, plus mentor, development program, assistance with banking, and accommodation.  Successful applicants from outside the EU will be eligible for a Startup Entrepreneur Visa  which permits the holder and his/her family to reside and work in Ireland.  Short-listed projects pitch on 1st June. Enterprise Ireland will cover travel costs and introduce founders to the start-up ecosystem here. For more information see  here.

Annual Leave Entitlement
Under the Organisation of Working Time Act 1997 employees are entitled to paid Statutory Annual Leave each year.  The amount of annual leave an employee is entitled to take is determined by their actual hours worked.  It is the responsibility of the employer to ensure that the employees use their annual leave entitlement within the leave year.  For more on Annual Leave entitlement please see the ISME website, call 01-6622755 or contact niamh@isme.ie
