Athletic Outreach Program - Wrap up
Thank you to all of the volunteers, parents and of course players who participated in this past weekend's Athletic Outreach Program. The JCRC (Jewish Community) and Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy were very pleased with the program and their youth and parents enjoyed the program very much. The main goal of this program was to give youth from different faiths the opportunity to engage and meet each other while enjoying themselves by playing their favorite sport.  During the first half of the program we had the youth from each religious organization play against each other on a 5v5 set up.  During the break we did a short 15 minute activity with the boys mingling with each other from each faith. Finally, during the second half of the program we did a 3v3 where one player from each faith was put on one team to truly demonstrate the spirit of the event.

Insha'Allah goal is to plan a larger event next year with more religious organizations participating. We received some great media coverage as well. WCPO covered the event, so be sure to watch their video coverage and read the article.

Take Action Against Hate

In the current climate of increased hate crimes and hateful rhetoric across our country, we encourage our community members to sign on and send a letter to their Congressional representative through the following link. This is a joint call for increase in vigilance, reporting and follow up regarding hate crimes across our country which is initiated by the national Muslim Jewish Advisory Council on which the ICGC president serves.

Islamic Day in Ohio

Saturday, October 14
Islamic Center In The News

Every community has a narra tive.  Either that community controls the narrative or the narrative cont rols the community. Now more than ever the American Muslim community has to take control of the narrative. This can only be achieved if as a community we are building bridges and inroads with media.  Media outlets want to cover stories and do pieces that people are interested in. They want viewers, readers, comments, and discussions.  It is critical that as a community we are more visible and more vocal in the media.

We have been blessed for wide and positive coverage of the Center.  When there is positive coverage we must all give feedback and acknowledge and appreciate the work of the media. Please take a few minutes to review the media links and give positive feedback where you feel comfortable.
