Be Prepared

Did you know?
The liturgical Christmas season traditionally begins with the vigil Masses on Christmas Eve and concludes on the Feast of the Baptism of the Lord (Jan. 9th). Does Christmas usually begin with Thanksgiving and end on December 26th in your family? Defy the secular pull by keeping your tree up and celebrating the "12 days of Christmas". The 12 days are the time between the two major Christmas feasts: the Nativity of the Lord (Dec. 25th) and the Epiphany of the Lord (Jan. 8th) when the three kings visit baby Jesus. Click for more information about the Christmas Season.

From the Desk of Ellen Knippel, Principal
Dear Parents,
Happy St. Nicholas' Eve! I just love all of the traditions at this time of year! It was so much fun last week hearing about the Advent and Christmas traditions that the classes have been learning about - The Poinsettia, Advent Wreaths and Chains, The Nativity Story, service projects, Advent Angels, scripture study - just to name a few! The faculty has also chosen their own ministry projects for the season.
The opportunities we are providing for your child is what makes a CATHOLIC education a great choice for your family!
Advent Blessings!
Mrs. Knippel

Snow Gear
Winter is officially here! Make sure you send your child in with snow pants, boots, hat, gloves and a warm coat EVERY DAY until we are past the spring thaw (and mud). They should be carried in a separate "snow bag" (fabric bags work best). Students who do not bring appropriate snow gear will have to stay on the blacktop during recess. Please make sure everything is labeled with your child's name.
Book Drive, December 6th-12th
The Middle School Service Club is sponsoring a book drive this week. All donations will go to St. Anthony School in Milwaukee. Please consider sending new or gently used books to school with your children this week.

Voucher at time of purchase!
Christmas Concert, December 15th
Grades 3K-8 will perform at 6:30pm in church. Band students should arrive by 6:00pm to warm up. All other students should be in their places by 6:15pm, dressed in "Sunday best". Please, no jeans, sweats or shorts for the concert and wear comfortable shoes. The concert is expected to be between one and one and a half hours long. The band will perform first with a short intermission to remove the chairs etc. When the 3K and 4K students are done performing, they will go sit with their parents. The last song of the evening will be performed by ALL grades (3K-8). This concert will not be video recorded so bring your video cameras!

Students were given their "prayer hats" and Mrs. Knippel lit the first of four candles in the Advent wreath.
