onePTA Brisket Sandwich Cancellation

Due to a sudden closure of the restaurant that was going to cater the Tuesday brisket sandwiches to the school for the students' lunches, the PTA has had to cancel the sandwich orders for those students who ordered them. Your orderlunches.com account will be credited back the amount that you paid on the brisket sandwiches so that you will pay that much less for your child(ren)'s lunches for the month of November. The PTA apologizes for the inconvenience and looks forward to providing an alternative lunch option for Tuesdays in November.
Odyssey of the Mind Official Sign Up

If you would like to sign up your 3rd-7th grader for Odyssey of the Mind this year, please fill out the sign up form by clicking here by the deadline. One form needs to be filled out for each child. Please read the intro of the form very carefully as that explains why Odyssey is only being offered for 3rd-7th graders and other changes for this year. The deadline to sign up is this Tuesday by noon.

Picture Package Agreement Forms

A yellow "Portrait Package Acceptance Agreement" form was sent home with your child this week. Please fill this out and return it to the school in order to be given your child(ren)'s pictures when we receive them at the school in a couple of weeks. You will not be given the pictures unless we have this form. Extra copies of the form are available in the school.
fourEid Party Picnic!

The PTA invites all of our families to their annual Eid party at Cullen Park on Saturday, October 18 from 2-5pm. Pizza will be provided but please feel free to bring your own foods to share with other families. Children should bring bikes, scooters, and anything else they wish to play with. There is limited seating so it is best to bring your own blankets or chairs. For more information and to RSVP, please click on this Evite invitation link. We look forward to seeing everyone there!
Spirit Shirts Are In!

The students' spirit shirts, which you ordered via TADS, are here! Most of you received them during parent-teacher conferences. If you did not, your child will be sent home with the shirt(s) on Monday insha'Allah. All 1st-7th graders must wear their spirit shirts every Monday for PE class. All Montessori students can wear them any time but must wear them on field trips. If you did not order the correct size, we have very limited extras so we may not be able to exchange the shirts, but you may ask other parents if they have an extra or want to swap shirts.

Volunteer Training Session

There will be another volunteer training session on Friday, October 17 from 8:20-8:50am for those who were unable to make it to the last session due to Hajj and work. This will be the last training session for this semester, and possibly for the academic year, so if you wish to be a chaperone at class field trips, this is mandatory for you to attend.
fivePSIA Sign Up

The deadline to sign up your child for PSIA is Tuesday, October 14. For all of the information about the competition and how to sign up your child, please refer to the "Due Tuesday: Official PSIA Sign Up" email by clicking here
Fundraising Committee

The school fundraising committee is looking to expand and welcomes new members who would like to assist with targeted fundraising to help expedite the second floor expansion. As you know, the second floor is still a shell and construction of classrooms has not yet begun. We are hoping to make a strong push so we can have at least 3 classrooms ready by August. We need people who are passionate about ILM and about providing their children with the best facilities possible! If you would like to help our board and fundraising committee with this, please respond to this email.

two Coffee with the Principal

The school is hosting a Coffee with the Principal on Friday, October 24 at 8:15am. All parents wishing to give feedback, share ideas for the growth of the school or even learn more about the school offerings are welcome to attend this informal group gathering. If you plan to attend, please RSVP by responding to this email so that we may make appropriate arrangements.
Muffins with Moms

Every year, the ECC and Montessori classes hold a Muffins with Moms event in which parents are welcomed to attend class with their children, work with them, and then share breakfast together. This event is called "Muffins with Moms" but dads, aunts, uncles, or other relatives may come in place of the mom. (We will have a separate event titled "Breakfast with Babas" later in the year.) The Muffins with Moms for this year will be held on Friday, October 31 from about 8:15-9:15am. We look forward to seeing our moms there!
Driving and Parking in the School Lot

Please be mindful of the following rules when dropping off or picking up your children to the school:
  • Stay in your car in the carpool line (a safety patrol officer or teacher will assist your children)
  • Do not text and drive
  • Park in a single space, please do not take up two spaces when parking
  • Never leave a child unattended in your car under any circumstances whatsoever
  • Come in from the Masjid El Farouq gate and exit from the ILM Academy gate (please do not ever enter from the ILM Academy gate)
Please always use courtesy in the parking lot and drive safely. Please also note that our staff and trained safety patrol officers will buckle your children into their car seats if they are not able to, however the school is not liable for any accidents which may occur after we have done so.
