News & Reminders for This Week
oneBullying Awareness Workshop

We will hold a bullying awareness workshop for parents on Friday, September 11 at 8:15am. Please attend this workshop to learn more about what bullying is, causes of it, how to address it, etc. It will be held by at least one local therapist.
Tardies Being Counted

Tardies began counting this week for all 1st-8th grade students. Please ensure your child is in class by 8:10am every morning. The penalty for tardies is explained in the Parent-Student Handbook (linked above) beginning from page 19.

If your child is absent, late, or leaving early for an excused reason, please email your child's teacher to ensure it is excused.
How to Order Karate Uniforms

Sensei Saif will check your Montessori level 3 through 6th grade child(ren)'s karate uniform sizes on Tuesday. You will then need to either purchase the uniform through him (a check payable to Samurai Karate Dojo for $35 with your child's name in the memo) or buy it elsewhere. If your chi   ld already has a uniform that fits, he/she should be bringing it to school every Tuesday to wear for class.
twoNew Contact Directories

The teacher contact directory with teachers' classes and email addresses has been added to the "Resources" section above. Additionally, the annual Parent Directory with parent information has been uploaded to the Orbund school management system References section. You can use these to contact staff and other parents.
Seeking Committees Members

We are looking for additional members to join our Accreditation Committee or Finance Committee. A committee is a branch off from our Advisory Panel (the school board). If you are interested, please respond to this email and we will discuss our needs and your qualifications to determine the best fit for the goals of the committees.
Pick Up and Drop Off

Please be safe in the parking lot and respectful of other parents. When coming into the school gate, please stay to the right and pull up to the car in front of you to allow for other cars to pass through or not have to wait in the street. Also, when walking your student in to school, stay on the sidewalk and do not walk in front of or between cars. Thank you for helping us keep our families safe.
To Do
fourOrder September Lunches by Monday

If you wish to participate in the PTA lunch program for your Montessori, elementary, or middle school child, please be sure to order their lunches via www.orderlunches.com by Monday. Orders cannot be placed on the website after the deadline of Monday.

This year, after much hard work put in by our PTA moms, they are able to offer a healthy 5-day variety of lunches. Prices and portions differ somewhat between different age groups.

Your child took home an orange information sheet today with the details and how to order lunches for September.  You can also view that sheet by clicking here.

Please remember, Monday is the absolute deadline to order lunches for the month of September.
Parent-Teacher Conferences

Conferences will be held on Monday, September 21. This is your opportunity to meet with all of your child(ren)'s teachers and discuss their progress. Each conference is 10 minutes and if you have multiple students with the same teacher (such as Arabic, IS, etc.), you may only sign up for one slot for all of the children. If no slots are available for one of your child's teachers, please contact her to set up another conference time. Sign ups are first come, first serve. Ask your child which Arabic teacher s/he has as there are multiple levels from 4th-8th grade (or email us to ask). There are no conferences with auxiliary teachers (such as PE, art, etc.) but you can set them on separate days if you wish. Find a list of your child's teachers here. Contact teachers directly via email here. Students may not attend the conferences.
