New Mural Debuts on the Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy Greenway in Dewey Square

The Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy Greenway recently debuted its new mural in Dewey Square -- and it's been a big hit! Mehdi Ghadyanloo's mural "Spaces of Hope" features a staircase of men and women, some holding red balloons, waiting in line as a giant red balloon escapes from a cavern-like space.
Photos by David L. Ryan for The Boston Globe
Ghadyanloo grew up in Iran during the country's longtime war with Iraq and it had a direct result on his art.

"I think all of us -- people in Iran, people in America, people everywhere -- usually receive lots of bad news, and we all need hope," he said to WBUR of the mural.

This is the Greenway's fifth mural in Dewey Square.
