Fund for the TIC Hungry and Homeless Yom Kippur Appeal 

For a lot of our neighbors here in Westchester a steady income, a place of their own and nourishing reliable meals are a dream right now. Children are living in shelters. The old and the young are going to food pantries for groceries. More people than ever are numbered among the working poor in our county.

AJC Westchester/Fairfield Director Scott Richman will interview her about her new biography of Golda Meir, the meticulously researched "Lioness: Golda Meir and the Nation of Israel." It was named as the 2017 Book of the Year by the Jewish Book Council and conveys  the back story of the key events of pre-State Israel and the early years of the State.

Shorashim News     

We had a great first week! Thank you for your patience through September 20 as we continue to work around the Days of Awe tent sent up in the back parking lot.
 
Opening Days of Shorashim are as follows:
 
Remember! No Shorahsim on Sunday, it's Erev Rosh Hashanah. We look forward to seeing everyone next Wednesday and Thursday and again on  Sunday, September 16 for all in Grades K-6, from 9:00-11:30 am
This is also our first day for K and 1st grades.  K and 1st grade families are invited to accompany your child to their learning space for the first 45 minutes of the day, followed by a PTO sponsored "Meet and Greet' with other K and 1 (and other) Shorashim families in the lobby.
 
All families are asked to please park your car and join your child/ren in the Milstein Sanctuary from 11:00-11:30 am for our "Welcome Back Assembly."  Dismissal will be from the Milstein Sanctuary. Remember, parking is limited due to the tent set up in the parking lot, please park on the streets if necessary. Thank you, again, for your patience!

Parents can pick up Shorashim learners at regular dismissal time of 11:30am, or at conclusion of event at 12:00pm, if you want your child to stay till the end of the youth event.  Dismissal will be from the Sukkah, so please park and come get your child/ren..
 
Sunday Morning Breakfast followed by PTO sponsored 'Hesed Event' for Shorashim adults while Shorashim learners are in learning spaces.

MAH JONGG WITH SISTERHOOD 

Sisterhood holds mah jongg games on Thursday nights from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m

"We play for tzedakah/charity, one game at a time."  Players need not be Sisterhood or Temple Israel Center members.

Would you like to help someone who doesn't? 

Join the TIC Food Volunteers!  We prepare more than 150 meals on the first Sunday of every month for the hungry and homeless.  Meals are prepared in volunteers' homes and brought to TIC for transport to The Sharing Community in Yonkers, NY. MINYANIM AT TIC!
Support fellow congregants who want to pray in a community as well as those who are saying Kaddish.  It is an act of great kindness. We gather in the lrene Schwebel Chapel at 7:10 am Monday-Friday, at 8:00 pm Monday-Thursday, and at 9:00 am and 8:00 pm on Sunday.   Check our calendar for minyanim times on Shabbat.

- Support TIC mourners during shiva week by being part of shiva minyanim. To participate in this act of hesed, email Caren Zelicof. 

- Celebrating a simhah or remembering a loved one? You can share the commemoration by sponsoring a Shabbat kiddush. Email  Kelly Kressler or call her at 914-948-2800 x111.
