STEP IT UP
at OSA!

STEP IT UP  was established in 2014 with a goal to make arts education accessible to underserved Oakland youth and to provide training and preparation for students to audition into OSA. The OSA  STEP IT UP program offers focused arts experiences to students who have a passion and aptitude for a specific art area, but may have been unable to access high-level training and support. Although short in duration, the program will give students a launching point from which they will understand and grow with the essential knowledge and skills that could make them a successful art student and young artist.  For more information contact  Kevin Choice .
Vocal Music

The OSA School of Vocal Music would like to cordially invite you to our annual Winter Choral Concert, "Light and Gold". This concert will take place on December 12th  at 7 p.m. at the First Congregational Church in Oakland.  "Light and Gold" will highlight the extraordinary work of our Vocal Music students as they demonstrate their ability to sing in complex harmony across musical genres.  All six of our choirs have been working tirelessly to perfect their pieces and can't wait to present a magical evening of music and cheer. Families and children are welcome!
Theatre

The second  Bay Area Collegiate Theatre Auditions  (BACTA) will be hosted by Oakland School for the Arts on  November 13-15, 2015 at OSA !  This is an opportunity for Bay Area 11th and 12th grade acting and technical theatre students interested in a post-high school education in acting, directing, dramaturgy, and technical theatre to participate in this regional audition. Students can be considered for BFA programs, BA programs, AA programs, and certificate programs in acting, technical theatre, directing, and playwriting/dramaturgy conducted by representatives from some of the most respected collegiate programs throughout the region and the country. If you are a junior or senior interested in participating, please go to the OSA website for additional information and to register (free to students). Students from around the Bay Area are invited, so spread the word to anyone who might be interested. If you would like to volunteer to support this event, please contact Catherine Mercurio .
