PARKING TAGS

We have just purchased parking tags for you to put on your rear view mirror, while parked here, at the Corps.  They will start to be distributed this Sunday after morning worship and you can get one for each car you own.  Please see Michele Kroeze on Sunday to get your tag and to avoid getting a parking sticker on your windshield (You know what I'm talking about Andrew and Melissa).

SKI TRIP

The 16th Annual Ski Trip out at Shawnee Mountain is quickly approaching. This year's trip lands on the last full weekend in January (the 24-26th). This is always a great weekend of fellowship, food and fun...and of course, skiing/snowboard/sledding. You and your family will not want to miss out!

With that said, we are pressed for time. If you are planning on going or considering it, you have until Sunday afternoon to let me know. I will have a sign up available on Sunday, but you can also email me (matt.hodgson@use.salvationarmy.org) with the following information:
  • Name of people you are signing up
  • If you plan on skiing, snowboarding or tubing
  • Whether you need to rent equipment or not
  • If someone needs lessons
  • T Shirt sizes
I know many of you have already written to me to tell me that you are going, but I need to know t shirt sizes, so I can place our order. Sorry for the extra work, but if you would resend your info with the additional information, I would really appreciate it!

I hope that you're planning to come and excited about this year's Ski Trip!!!
WRITERS GROUP

I look forward to our next meeting on Monday, January 13, 2014. As usual we will meet in the Coffee Booth of Montclair Citadel, beginning at 7:00 PM. Please bring writing you've been working on to share with us. (Remember to bring copies for us all, if possible.) If you've learned a new word recently, tell us about that too. As always, we will conclude with a writing exercise.  All are welcome!

Happy New Year!

May the road rise to meet you,
May the wind be always at your back,
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
The rains fall soft upon your fields and,
Until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of His hand.

Congratulations

Many of you know Bandmaster Calvin Ming, as he spent some time here at Montclair Citadel.  He is retiring and his Corps in Bermuda is having a concert to celebrate this milestone.

You can participate in this celebration and  Major Bruce Jennings is asking for your help.  See the email he sent below for more information:

We are having a Retirement celebration concert for Bandmaster Cal Ming Jan 25.  I realize he has spent some time at Montclair Corps thus my contacting you.  It is our desire to have a number of people who know him, write letters of congratulations.  If possible please let your congregation know of this celebration and ask if they would send a letter of congratulations.  These letters will be put with some pictures in a book of memories for him. Anyone sending letters should send them to my email please.  Cal knows about the celebration but is not aware of how many people we are contacting.

May the Lord continue to bless you ministry.

SUNDAY WORSHIP

This Sunday, Lt. Col. Barbara Hunter will give a sermon entitled "Out of Focus?" and use scripture found in   Luke 7:36-50

Luke 7:

36 One of the Pharisees asked Jesus to have dinner with him, so Jesus went to his home and sat down to eat. 37 When a certain immoral woman from that city heard he was eating there, she brought a beautiful alabaster jar filled with expensive perfume. 38 Then she knelt behind him at his feet, weeping. Her tears fell on his feet, and she wiped them off with her hair. Then she kept kissing his feet and putting perfume on them.

39 When the Pharisee who had invited him saw this, he said to himself, "If this man were a prophet, he would know what kind of woman is touching him. She's a sinner!"

40 Then Jesus answered his thoughts. "Simon," he said to the Pharisee, "I have something to say to you."

"Go ahead, Teacher," Simon replied.

41 Then Jesus told him this story: "A man loaned money to two people-500 pieces of silver to one and 50 pieces to the other. 42 But neither of them could repay him, so he kindly forgave them both, canceling their debts. Who do you suppose loved him more after that?"

43 Simon answered, "I suppose the one for whom he canceled the larger debt."

"That's right," Jesus said. 44 Then he turned to the woman and said to Simon, "Look at this woman kneeling here. When I entered your home, you didn't offer me water to wash the dust from my feet, but she has washed them with her tears and wiped them with her hair. 45 You didn't greet me with a kiss, but from the time I first came in, she has not stopped kissing my feet. 46 You neglected the courtesy of olive oil to anoint my head, but she has anointed my feet with rare perfume.

47 "I tell you, her sins-and they are many-have been forgiven, so she has shown me much love. But a person who is forgiven little shows only little love." 48 Then Jesus said to the woman, "Your sins are forgiven."

49 The men at the table said among themselves, "Who is this man, that he goes around forgiving sins?"

50 And Jesus said to the woman, "Your faith has saved you; go in peace."

SEE YOU SUNDAY
