What drew you to joining the board of Downtown Indiana?
I am from a small town that had a grocery store, a library, a hardware store, a drug store (with a soda fountain!), a bank and several restaurants in its downtown. I enjoyed that feel and was happy that Indiana also had a vital downtown. I felt that by joining the board, I could add my perspective and help ensure that downtown Indiana remains an active, vital place for its business owners, property owners and the residents of Indiana and the surrounding area.
On what DI committees/event committees do you serve?
As President of Downtown Indiana, I Chair its Executive Committee and its board of Directors. I also Chair the Organization Committee, which serves as the human resources function for DI. I also serve on its Economic Restructuring Committee and its Promotions Committee. I also serve on the First Commonwealth It’s a Wonderful Life Festival committee which takes up a lot of time an energy as we try to fill five weekends with activities for the downtown.
What is your favorite thing about downtown?
I like the diversity off the restaurants and shopping options that exist downtown. Because I work downtown, it is important to me that I be able to get breakfast and lunch as well as do some necessary shopping and while on breaks from my job. I also like the variety of activities that happen downtown all through the year.
Name a fun fact that people may not know about you?
I love to sing and sing lead in a Southern Gospel quartet. We have sung both locally and regionally and while we have one CD, we would like to do another CD project.
