Lord, it is good to give thanks to You.

-Psalm 92

Ongoing Education

Faith Small as a Mustard SeedIn this weekend's readings, Ezekiel compares God's people to a tender cedar shoot planted by God. Psalm 92 promises that the just person will grow sturdy like a palm tree. And Jesus compares the kingdom to a mustard seed. It is the smallest of seeds, but it produces huge, hearty branches that shelter the birds.

God it telling us that faith, like a tiny seed, will grow! Our faith will set down deep roots that will hold us steady even in a storm. Our faith will make us reach out strong branches to others. Even though we may be small, even though we may not notice our growth, we are becoming strong in faith.

On Being a Good Steward
Outreach Volunteers
Volunteers Mary Bicknell and Addison Sutherland prepare bags of laundry detergent to give to those in need.

St. Anne Outreach

Volunteers are the heart of St. Anne Outreach. Helping hands are needed at the center every Monday through Thursday, from 8:30 a.m. until Noon; and the third weekend of each month, around Mass times.

For the youth of our parish and school, volunteering at St. Anne Outreach is an excellent way to learn about the importance of being a good steward.

Outreach Volunteers
Avery Sutherland helps by sorting clothing.

Volunteer duties include dividing and packaging food, sorting clothing, and organizing and filing papers. Anyone, age 12 and up, who is willing to work hard and be understanding and compassionate to those in need, is welcome (kids under 12 must be chaperoned by an adult).

The Authentic Catholic Woman

What does it mean to be a woman today? Is there a one-size-fits-all answer? How can a woman be truly Catholic and truly feminine, hard-working and creative, and yet be at peace within? How does she nurture life at home, at school, on the job or in the culture?

Author Genevieve Kineke explores those questions in her book The Authentic Catholic Woman, and will bring the rich message of authentic femininity to St. Anne Catholic Church during an upcoming seminar sponsored by the Columbus Deanery Council of Catholic Women.

Space is limited for the August 15th event, which will take place from 10 a.m. until 3:30 p.m., in Visitation Hall, so be sure to register early! The $20 per person fee to attend includes lunch.
