Gospel Reflection

This Sunday's Gospel reveals what miraculous things can happen when one embraces a single-minded faith in Jesus Christ. Peter gets out of a wind-tossed boat when the Lord calls him. His faith is tested by his obedience to Jesus who is calling him out onto the water. In the midst of the waves and the wind, Peter gets out of the boat and walks toward Jesus. Good stewards heed Christ's call to them. Sometimes that call directs them to take on seemingly impossible challenges. This week, reflect on how the Lord could be calling you out of the safety of your own "boat" to take on the impossible.

Feast of the Assumption

The Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary commemorates the death of Mary and her bodily assumption into Heaven, before her body could begin to decay - a foretaste of our own bodily resurrection at the end of time. This year, the Feast of the Assumption is Tue., Aug. 15. Mass will be celebrated at St. Anne Church at 7:30 a.m., 9:30 a.m., 11 a.m. (new time) and 6 p.m. on this Holy Day of Obligation. Please note: St. Anne-Pacelli Catholic School students celebrate our 9:30 and 11 a.m. Masses on Holy Days of Obligation, so those Masses may be more crowded.

Item of the Month

St. Anne Community Outreach's Item of the Month in August is socks. The Outreach Center is open Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. until Noon. In addition to our normal operating hours, St. Anne Community Outreach will accept donations before and after Saturday 5:30 p.m. Masses and from 9 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. on Sundays (updated times) during third weekend of each month.
