Conceiving Christ
The Incarnation had nothing to do with theology. It was rather about vulnerability, about letting go, about emptiness, about self-surrender -- and none of that is in the head. It was a woman who said yes, so that Jesus could come into the world. And the more the Church gets out of its head and into its feminine soul, the more, I believe, it will become able to conceive Christ and carry him to term for the world. Not a Christ to fight over, as some do, but simply a Christ we can meet, a Christ we can stumble on, a Christ who won't let people "know" him, only love him.

Advent Evening Prayer

Advent Evening Prayer, which starts in the chapel at 6:30 pm each Wednesday evening during Advent, is a highly recommended, deeply spiritual service. It is the second of the two Daily Offices created by Archbishop Cranmer in the original Book of Common Prayer in 1549.

Led by Father Nathan Jennings and Father Billy Tweedie, it consists of opening sentences, hymns, canticles, a Psalm, and The Apostles Creed. It is a wonderful way to come away from worldly tasks for a few minutes to contemplate this time of waiting and preparation, and consider our own place in The Story.

News from the Atrium

Dear marvelous families,
Prepare the way of the LORD!  This Sunday, Dec. 13, the format for the 10:30am Eucharist service will be slightly different.  We will be having communion, but there will be some more lessons and carols than usual.  Just to warm us up for the big day :)
It's also an invitational to the neighboring Retirement and Nursing Center (RNC).  At least four residents have said they would like to attend.  The volunteers will have them ready at the front door at 10:00am.
If you'd like to help escort them over, please let me know.
Regular atrium times on Sunday: big kids at 9:15, 6 and under at 10:15am.
For your calendars: the Christmas Eve Pageant will be at 5:00pm on 12/24 (Thursday night).  Loads of costumes (including more angels this year), roles for kids.  Please invite friends.

Christmas Clean-up Day Coming Dec. 19th

Please join the Altar Guild on Saturday, December 19 from 9 AM to 12 Noon.  We will be doing our semi-annual cleaning. We want the church to sparkle for Christmas.  We will provide all cleaning materials necessary as well as some donuts and coffee.

Then on Sunday after the 10:30 service, we will decorate the Christmas trees so all are asked to come join us especially the children.  If you have questions, call Ann at 512-423-3911 or email

ECW Will Meet on Dec 12th

I want to remind you about our next ECW meeting on Dec. 12th at 10:00 a.m. in the Parish Hall.  This is our Christmas Party.  Bring your favorite treat and we will have a merry refreshment time.
We will also collect the gifts for the Christmas Family.  I have attached an updated list of the gifts for the Family.  Please email or call 512-523-8144 me with the item(s) you would like to donate.
The gifts do not need to be wrapped .  I will have tags on December 12 to use, but in the meantime please list the name of the person the gift is for and their age.  If you purchase clothing (or anything you are unsure of), please get a gift receipt so the item may be exchanged to the correct fit/use.
The gifts will be delivered on Sunday, Dec.13th..
