Advent Continues...
Dear OLG Families,

Here we are with the last newsletter of 2017! I can't believe the first 6 months of my time here has flown by so fast! We have been busy, and even though school the next two weeks, we don't stop moving. Our front entry is being remodeled (Contact Sal if you can help on Monday the 18th), and we're busy getting things ready for January and Catholic Schools Week. But yes, we do all need a break, so as Fr. Jack says at each mass this advent:
Slow Down....
Be Still ...

I hope you have time to just " Be Still" with your loved ones. Merry Christmas to you and your family and a happy New Year! We'll see you back at school on January 2nd!
Yours in Christ (soon to be born),

Anton Kramer

The Third Grade Visits the Mount
In Third grade we had the opportunity to visit the sisters who reside at Mount Saint Vincent at 35 th street. Many memories were made and laughs were had! A very special thanks to all of the OLG families who came with us, the sisters, and the employees at The Mount.
The third graders did a project earlier this year where they researched and dressed up as a saint! At The Mount the third graders wore their saint outfits and started the visit with a “Saint Parade” around the room to the tune of, When the Saints Go Marching In . Afterwards, each student sat down with the sisters and shared all the information they learned about the saint that they chose. Many of the sisters attempted to guess the student’s saint, and many of them guessed correctly!

Having this opportunity to visit The Mount was really exciting, and a wonderful experience for everyone who was able to come. The students really enjoyed the chance to do some learning outside of the classroom, as well as demonstrating their ‘saintly’ knowledge! Our trip to the Mount was something none of us will forget!

Join the OLG Shelter Planning Team
Are you concerned about the rising cost of living in Seattle and the growing number of people without homes? Do you want to be part of the solution? OLG will be partnering with Mary’s Place to provide shelter for women and children 2-4 weeks/year as part of their rotating shelter program. Our first host week will be March 6-13 and we are busy making preparations. Join us for our next Shelter Team meeting on Monday, December 18th

Shelter Team Meeting CANCELED
We are sad to report that Mary’s Place has decided to terminate their rotating shelter program. Their decision included a variety of factors but two of the biggest were not having enough host congregations and the awareness that rotating living quarters each week was putting a large strain on their families. OLG is committed to sharing our space to help address the housing crisis in our community and we will continue to look for ways to partner with local organizations.

Many Journeys, One Family Survey
Starting January 7, the U.S. Catholic Church will celebrate National Migration Week. This year’s theme is “Many Journeys, One Family”. The OLG Immigrant Ministry group has planned activities to help us celebrate the week, including an Epiphany International Potluck following the 11am Mass on January 7th. On that day, we will present a visual depiction of the richness of the migrant heritage reflected in our parish family. We are asking everyone at Mass this weekend to help us gather information about our community’s migration stories by filling out a pew card telling us your family’s country of origin going back four generations. If you missed Mass this weekend and would like to share your information, please email it to Jennifer.

Mass and March for Life
The annual Mass and March for Life will take place on Monday, January 22 nd and our Knights of Columbus have offered us space on their bus to join them for the day. The bus will leave from St. George Church (5306 13 th Ave S, Seattle) at 7:30am, head to the Mass for Life with Archbishop Sartain in Lacey, and then to the March for Life at the State Capitol. The group leaves Olympia by about 2:30pm. Be sure to bring a sack lunch.  Please RSVP this week to Gary

Sandy, with all that’s been happening I did not get a chance to do the Advent reflection inserts so I have crossed those out for the rest of Advent. Thanks!
