Principal's Letter
Dear OLG Families,

We are well into Lent, which is a time of reflection and "turning." Turning away from selfishness, away from consumerism, turning away from so many things our society pushes daily. It is a time for turning toward a deeper relationships. What will you do this Lent to turn?

We have two turning events in the next 7 days in our school. Our Auction, March 3rd (see full program HERE), and our State of the School, March 7th ( RSVP here) . Both of these provide us all with an opportunity to turn to the those around us, to be in community with each other, and to turn towards the future. An incredible team of folks have been working hard to bring the auction to life. Can't make it to the auction? We also have plenty of opportunities for Hands and Feet to help with setup, all day Friday and Saturday in the Walmesley Center.

Next Wednesday at 6:30 we have the State of the School and the Registration for next year opens fully. Just like the President's "State of the Union" brings together all branches of government, I hold this opportunity for new and current families, School Commission, and Parent Org to all be in community for a report of where we are, what our current initiatives are, and where we are moving in the future. Plus, we release the new budget/tuition amounts and fully open registration. Please come to this vital meeting. Child Care is available ( RSVP here).

I turn to you in these next seven days to see where we are in relationship. The largest fundraiser of the year (Auction), and the largest enrollment night of the year (State of the School). What will you do this Lent to turn?

Yours in Christ,

Anton Kramer

Catholic Relief Services Rice Bowl: Encounter Safiata
In Burkina Faso, we encounter Safiata, a mother, grandmother and farmer who relies on the money she makes from her crops to put her children through school. How can our purchases this Lent support farmers and artisans? How can you support those, worldwide, who are forced to flee their homes to find safety or better opportunities? Visit crsricebowl.org for more. Check out the “Reflections” tab for a variety of digital reflections including Stations of the Cross and a Lenten Retreat.

It’s Working: Tell the House to Support the Sanctity of Life and Abolish the Death Penalty in Washington State
This could be the year Washington abolishes the death penalty  In a historic vote, the Senate passed the bill to abolish the death penalty! On 2/20, Bishop Mueggenborg testified in favor of repealing the Death Penalty and on 2/21, Catholics from around the State lobbied our Representatives to do the same. The bill passed out of the House Judiciary Committee the next day and now needs to be voted on by the full House before the session ends on March 8.  You can help by emailing and/or calling Representatives. Go to www.abolishdeathpenalty.org and click on “News” or “Take Action” for a pre-written, editable message you can send or call the Legislative Hotline at 1-800-562-6000. It’s a short session this year so be sure to speak up soon!
