Principal's Letter
Dear OLG Families,

Fire and Flame. This weekend we celebrate Pentecost, the birth of the Church. The flame of the Holy Spirit spread and many tongues could be spoken and understood (Acts 2). What a time for our nation and world now, where mountains spew fire and flame in Hawaii, and Friday the 18th is the anniversary of St. Helens' erupting in our state. We also see our politicians and nations erupting in discord. Fire and Flame, some see these as destructive forces, but we can also see renewal in these times. This weekend as you are out and about, wear the color red, and note others around you who are wearing red. Let the flame spread!

Last night the flame of our school's mission spread. Thank you to Fr. Jack and all the volunteers and staff who shared in spreading our mission to Middle School families and through the New Family Orientation. Over 40 new parents were in attendance! Another fabulous example of living our theme this year, We are the Hands and Feet of Christ.

Let your hands and feet continue to move and shake in our final turn-in days for Jog-a-thon pledges (Friday 5/18) and School Fund Drive, in running or volunteering in the Loop the 'Lupe , and in spreading the Holy Spirit amongst our community! Signup now for summer events as well.
Yours in Christ,

Anton Kramer

OLG Parish News
Would you like to join the Catholic Church before Fr. Jack retires?
If you have been thinking about becoming Catholic and would like to celebrate the sacraments of initiation with Fr. Jack, now is the time! RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) is a process of initiation into the Catholic community of faith and meets on Wednesday evenings. It encompasses the study of Scripture, Catholic teaching, and Christian values—the development and deepening of a life of prayer and action-all with the support and involvement of the parish community. Participants can go at their own pace. For more information, please contact Helen Oesterle 206-935-0358, x 108. You can also find more information at our parish website.

OLG Parish Garden partnership with the High Point Mosque - Garden beds available for adoption
Our parish has begun a conversation with our neighbors to invite them to join us in raising vegetables for our local food banks but also for their family tables. Many of them live in places where they cannot have a garden. Also, this will provide opportunities for us to get to know one another better as we pull weeds, plant seeds, and harvest crops. If you are interested in being part of this project by adopting one of our garden beds for the summer, please contact Laura Vanderpool.

OLG Parish Garden work party next Saturday May 19th
We need to get our garden beds ready for planting this season AND we need to build a few additional beds to share with our High Point Mosque families. Come anytime from 8:00-12:00 Noon to help. Get your school hours in early! We have some tools but it would be best if you could bring your own. Also, please let me know if you can give specific help to plan and build our new garden beds so that we have the supplies we need on the 19th. Contact Helen, 206-935-0358, for more information. Pray for dry weather!
