Principal's Letter
Dear OLG Families,

What a fabulous concert last night! We had many themes of movement and summer fun. This week's newsletter has a similar theme!

We are moving:
  • Students are moving and shaking, sharing their talents tomorrow at our school Talent Show! Show starts at 1:30 in the School Hall, all are welcome! Father Jack will share his talent for blessing the new Early Learning Center renovation project at the end.
  • Classes are moving: EDC, Music, and Preschool/Pre-K classes all moving to temporary locations as our Early Learning Center Renovations get underway. More info below! (Contact the school office if you want to jump on some volunteer hours).
  • Students are moving and shaking on Field Day next week (check out this memo for what to wear: June 1st wear colors by Family Group)
  • Staff movements are also underway. We have hired our full complement of new Preschool and PreK staff, and are in full interviews for 5th and MS science teacher positions. Also, we welcome an alumn of ours, Hope Olbricht, who is joining our EDC staff to help us out the remainder of this year. Welcome Hope!

And we are thinking of summer fun:
  • Summer Programs signup is going on now... read more below!
  • Get ready for soccer season (see CYO section below)
  • (and OK, its a stretch)... the 2018-19 School Calendar is released (full calendar here).

So much going on right now, sometimes I feel my head is spinning. As I spent the evening with a number of OLG volunteers last weekend, I reflected on my own need to slow down and pause. I pray this long weekend you can slow down and enjoy the company of your family and friends.
Yours in Christ,

Anton Kramer

Would you like to join the Catholic Church before Fr. Jack retires?
If you have been thinking about becoming Catholic and would like to celebrate the sacraments of initiation with Fr. Jack, now is the time! RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) is a process of initiation into the Catholic community of faith and meets on Wednesday evenings. It encompasses the study of Scripture, Catholic teaching, and Christian values—the development and deepening of a life of prayer and action-all with the support and involvement of the parish community. Participants can go at their own pace. For more information, please contact Helen Oesterle 206-935-0358, x 108. You can also find more information at our parish website.

Action Alert: Ask Congress to Keep Immigrant Families Together
Join the U.S. Catholic Bishops in asking Congress to protect immigrant children and families seeking safety and shelter from violence by keeping these families together. As the Bishops’ Action Alert says, “ Children are vulnerable and should not be separated from their parents. The family is a foundational element of Catholic teaching and family unity is a cornerstone of our American immigration system
Separating parents from their children will not deter families from seeking safety and security in the U.S. Such a policy will not cure the pervasive root causes of migration existing in the violent areas of Central America. Furthermore, a policy of separating families at the border will be extremely costly to the U.S. taxpayer, costing hundreds of dollars/night per family.” Click here for a pre-written, editable message.
