The Karahja Family Needs Our Help

The Karahja family, the refugee family from Syria our congregation has been helping, is in the midst of some life challenges right now.  One of them we can help to resolve is financial. Since Ahmed is not able to work for the time being due to back issues, they expect to be short on their monthly bills. In order to prevent them from falling behind, we have offered our help, and remind them of the renewed importance of living within a budget. Accordingly, we are  asking our congregation (for the first time, believe it or not!) for some financial support. There is a basket out underneath the name tags in case you'd like to make a donation.  The  basket  will be there through June 17th. If you have any friends or family that don't go to the church but want to help, please ask people to make checks out to Gilead Church and put "refugees" on the memo line. They can mail it to the church (672 Gilead Street, Hebron, CT 06248) or give it to you to put it in the basket. Thank you!

Willing Weeders Needed!

Our Trustees are looking for folks who are willing to help weed around the church during the upcoming summer months to keep our church grounds looking great.

There are a few weeks still available:
July 8th
August 26th
September 2nd
September 9th
September 23rd
September 30th

There is a sign up sheet underneath the name tags or you can sign up by calling the Church Office (860-228-3077).  Weeding takes about an hour.  Please consider signing up for a week or two.  If you have any questions, please speak with Steve Weir, chairperson of our Board of Trustees.  Thank you!

Summer Potluck & Prayer Gatherings

Children's Sunday

This past Sunday, June 10th we celebrated our Sunday school and the many ways in which our children have loved their neighbors! The children led the worship service, shared their mission efforts, reflected on their past year at the Gilead Congregational Church as well as recognized their super Sunday school teachers. Young people wore their "Love Your Neighbor " shirts!

Sympathies

Our Church family expresses its deepest sympathy to Tara Milardo-Denler, Laura Lee Denler and Tyler Milardo-Denler on the recent death of Tara's father.

Thank You

Dear Stephanie Haines,

I would like to take a minute to formally thank you and this wonderful program for helping me with my car repairs. I have worked very hard to get where I am today and with this program I am now a reliable employee with reliable transportation. Tarcas was more than generous with the repairs and my car is running very well. If there is anything I can do to volunteer my time to any program in need please let me know. I truly can not express the gratitude I have. I do not have a lot of extra funds as I do work paycheck to paycheck, but I have saved $50 to give back to this program. Please accept the enclosed $50 to put back into the car repair program.  Thank you again and God Bless!

Ian
