Stewardship Thoughts: Church Budget
In the early days of the Adventist movement, finance was a big problem for Adventist preachers.  The support they received was entirely voluntary.  So, ministers were obliged to work part-time--farming, or working at some trade, to support their families  Well-known Adventist preacher James White worked in a hayfield or on the railroad to secure money to travel and preach.  In 1856, after three months of full-time preaching and pastoring, all that another Adventist preacher, John Loughborough, had to show for his labors was a buffalo skin overcoat and $10 in cash.  Even though the buying power of this amount of cash is equivalent to about $232 of today's money, it still isn't much for a family to survive on.  In order to have soemthing left for his family, John walked the last 26 miles back to his home.  And yet these men, and many others, kept on preaching.  They were so enthusiastic about sharing Jesus with others that they were even prepared to pay their own way (Nix, Passion, Purpose & Power, pp. 64-66).  Today we can show our enthusiasm for sharing Jesus by being willing to give.

Women's Ministry's Day of Prayer
Evening of March 6 & Prayer Garden of March 7

This year's day of Prayer theme is "It Is Well: The Women, The Prophet and The Prayer." It highlights the importance of intercessory prayer as part of God's plan for us. Women's Day of Prayer is based on the belief in the value of women praying for other women. Women understand one another; the compassion we offer each other is a catalyst for healing and restoration through prayer. The primary objective of intercession, is to reconcile sinners with their heavenly Father, bringing souls into the kingdom of God. We are ambassadors, the Apostle Paul says, helping the redeemed become one with their Creator. Look for more information to come!
