ATHLETICS
A LETTER FROM OUR ATHLETIC DIRECTOR

Hello Knight Fans,

I wanted to take a moment to update you on the exciting things that have happened in the Athletic Department the past few weeks.   On Saturday, April 29 th the Booster Club hosted the Knight Golf Classic, presented by Title Sponsor the Tayon Family.  And I am pleased to report that not only was it a beautiful day for golf, the event was a huge success!  Thanks to our sponsors and golfers, we raised $10,000 for the Knight Athletic Program.  Thank you to everyone that contributed; we could not have done it without you.

And we certainly could not stop there.  On Thursday, May 4 th the Booster Club hosted the Village School's Excellence in Sports Program yearly Award or "the VESPYs."  With over 260 student-athletes, coaches, and Village School families in attendance, we celebrated the Knight Athletic Program.  Each sports team and student-athlete was recognized and celebrated.   Additionally, three new awards were introduced at the VESPYs: the Iron Knight Award, Coach of the Year Award, and Shining Armor Award.  The Iron Knight Award recognizes student-athletes that participated on three or more Knight Athletic Teams.  I am proud to say that, in this inaugural year, we honored twenty Iron Knights.  The Coach of the Year Awards went to Golf Coach Alan Dozer and Girls Basketball and Football Coach Albert Bentley.  And the final award for the night, the Shining Armor Award, recognizes one male and one female student-athlete that exemplified what it means to be a Knight by their nearly unwavering display of sportsmanship, hard work, and commitment.  The Shining Armor Awards went to sixth grader Grayson Kerscher and eighth grader Skylar English.

This year has truly been an exciting year for the Knight Athletic Program.  So many of you have had a hand in making this year a success.  I want to thank each of you for your part.  Whether as a Booster Club member, volunteer, or fan in the stands, we appreciate you.

Go Knights!

Athletic Director

UPCOMING SHOWS

MUSICAL SUMMER CAMP

Based on two of the greatest works in children's literature, this fast-paced and witty show is set in Wonderland's courtroom, where Alice is on trial.  The Queen of Hearts is the judge, the Mad Hatter, White Rabbit, and Caterpillar are witnesses, and the jury is a deck of cards!  Poor Alice must try to prove her innocence by re-living the events of the adventures we've all come to love.  Her crime?  Growing and changing.  Both helping and hindering her are Tweedledee and Tweedledum, who spend most of their time trying to decide who is the attorney for the defense and who for the prosecution.
To win the case and save her head, Alice must embrace the truth about who she is and be willing to wake up from the dream of Wonderland.

"William J.  Brooke's book is full of comic wordplay and Joanne Bogart's lyrics follow suit, with a memorable score by Eric Rockwell.  This show is likely to send children home singing 'Off With Her Head.' But don't worry:  no one here is condemned to anything but a good time."  - The New York Times

Auditions are by appointment.  Rehearsals start Monday, June 26 and run through Friday, July 28, 1-4pm each weekday. Show dates are Friday, Saturday and Sunday July 28, 29 and 30.  There will be no camp July 3-4.  Fee for five weeks of camp is $325 with a $50 costume fee.
