News from The Episcopal Cafe
From the Rector

Dear Friends and Parishioners of St. Mary's,

Please join us this Saturday for our next Community Meal from 5:00-7:00 p.m.   Our menu is brats, hotdogs, potato salad, corn on the cob and dessert.  I hope you will stop in with friends and family and have dinner with us.   This is an easy, fun way to support St. Mary's.  It is a great way to spend time with old friends and meet some new ones.  This is a free meal open to everyone.  A free will donation will be taken for those who wish to contribute.

This  coming week I will be attending the Diocese of Chicago College for Congregational Development , from Sunday evening July 16 - Saturday July 22 .  This program is designed to develop and inspire lay and ordained leaders to lead their congregations into the future.  The Diocese of Chicago has trained 22 lay and clergy persons to help train other leaders in this diocese.  The program is one week this year and one week in 2018.  I will be eager to share my learnings and reflections and work from this program when I return.  Many leaders, both lay and ordained, have already completed the training and are finding it helpful as they do the work of living out their baptismal covenant in some very real and practical ways as they strive to revitalize their communities of faith.   If you have a pastoral care emergency you may contact Amy in the office at 815-459-1009, or you may contact one of our Co-Wardens: Cate Williams at 815-354-4313, or Marge Smith at 630-817-0908.

We have many new people around the church and while you know who you are they do not know you.   Please remember to wear your name tags.  This is an easy way to be hospitable.   Thank you.

See you all this Sunday,
Fran+
