From the Rector
Dear Parishioners and Friends of St. Mary's,
As you read this I am in Austin TX attending the 79
th
General Convention of the Episcopal Church. I will return on July 15. Should you have a pastoral care need or emergency please contact Amy in the office or one of our Co-Wardens, Marge Smith, or Tracy Higgins; they can reach the on-all clergy if needed. Please welcome The Rev. Carolyn Bavaro, who will be here to supply at both the 8:00 and 10:00 a.m. services this Sunday, July 8
th
.
This past May the vestry attended a day long retreat here at St. Mary's. The retreat was facilitated by The Rev. Kristin White, the Rector of St. Augustine's in Wilmette. Kristin helped the vestry get to know one another better and walked them through a plan to get to know the parish better. Currently each vestry member will be interviewing two to three members of the parish over the summer. You may be contacted by one of our vestry members who will be interested in having an in-person interview with you. They will be asking you three important questions: "What brought you to the parish? Where do you experience the work of transformation and God in the parish? What is one hope that you have for the parish going forward?" This data will help the vestry get an idea of what the strengths of our parish are, and where we should focus our time and attention going forward. It will also help us to continue to build relationships with one another. I hope if you are contacted you will agree to participate. Eventually we hope to talk with all of you. Thank you to our wonderful vestry who serve our parish so well.
Thank you to the volunteers who made our senior lunch this past Saturday so successful. Forty-four seniors attended and had a pre-fourth of July celebration, complete with a cookout, bingo, and door prizes. Fun was had by all.
I also want to thank all those involved in Bill Laskey's funeral on Saturday; it was a lovely tribute to his life. His family is so very appreciative of all of our efforts and work.
Blessings,
Fran+
