From the Rector

Dear Friends and Parishioners of St. Mary's,

As you know St. Mary's has five acres of land, which is always in need of care and sprucing up. On Sunday, June 10th your help is needed for an hour or two to help us weed the courtyard and the flowerbeds. We will begin at 11:00 a.m. immediately following our church services. We will work for about an hour and half and then have lunch in the Great Hall. If you can spare an hour or two it would be appreciated. We do have a sign up sheet in the Great Hall so that we can have enough food on hand for lunch.

Our youth will be raising money this weekend to send an at-risk youth to the "Summer in the City" two week camp, run by St. James Cathedral downtown. Please read more about the Game-A-Thon they have planned for Saturday June 2 in this newsletter. You can attend, or consider making a donation to the cause.

See you all on Sunday,
Fran+

Happy 90th, Harry!

Please join us for Coffee Hour after the 10:00 a.m. service this Sunday, June 3, as we celebrate (a wee bit early) Harry Dillon's 90th birthday! Harry was born on June 9, 1928, and has been an active member at St. Mary's longer than anyone. He was baptized here on February 12, 1933, the same day as his mother, Clara Elizabeth Dillon. Harry has worn many, many hats for St. Mary's during his lifetime, and his contributions to this parish are too numerous to mention. Congratulations, Harry!!

Your Help is Needed!

On  Sunday, June 10 from 11:00-1:00 p.m.  we will hold a parish  clean-up day of our grounds. We need people to weed and pick up branches, and do a basic clean-up of our 5 acres.  Lunch will be served in the Great Hall as soon as we finish up.  Please wear your yardwork clothes to church and spend sometime helping, as "Many hands make light work."  Please RSVP for lunch with Amy in the office,  or sign up in the Great Hall.  We want to make sure we have enough food on hand for all. Volunteers of all ages are welcome!

 Confirmation / Adult Inquirers' Classes

In prepar ation for Bishop Jeffrey Lee's visit in October, Fran will be scheduling Confirmation and Adult Inquirers' classes over the summer.

Confirmation class will be held for youth or adults, 7th grade and older, who wish to be confirmed by Bishop Lee on October 7.

The  Adult Inquirers' class prepares adults who wish to be Received into the Episcopal Church. (Those adults who have been confirmed in the Roman Catholic or ELCA Lutheran faiths, do not need to be re-confirmed, but are "received" into the Episcopal Church by the Bishop.) This class is open to any adult wishing to learn more about the Episcopal Church, even if they do not wish to be confirmed or received .

Please contact Rev. Fran and let her know if you are interested, or if you have any questions.   Dates will be coming out soon, and the classes promise to be engaging, fun, and informative.
