A Message from Cheri Gioe
Every morning I begin my day with prayer. Several years ago a special friend gave me a devotional that became very important to me. One of the devotions was about waiting, and I want to share it with you. “A man brought home a little white box from the pet store. In the box was a talking centipede. The following Sunday, the man asked the centipede if he’d like to go to church, but received no answer. A few minutes later, the man repeated his question but was still met with silence. Three additional minutes passed and the man tried again. This time he pressed his face against the centipede’s habitat and shouted the question again. This time the centipede responded, “I heard you the first time, I am putting on my shoes.”
We are all waiting for something. A couple waits for their first child, parents wait for their child’s first day of school, baseball players wait for that home run, football players wait for the big tackle, elementary students wait for high school, high school students for college and college graduates for work. We all wait for our trust to deepen, for danger to pass, for God to answer, or for an opportunity to develop.
Most of us don’t like to wait, but the patient waiter does not become jittery, constantly asking God when. Instead, he or she joyfully acknowledges the earth as God’s waiting room.
We must always remember that we are on HIS timeline. God know what we need and when. "Be ready!”
I share this with you because, as parents, we need to foster a sense of waiting in our children. This is easily done by practicing waiting ourselves. Consider this, if we give in to all desires, what is there to look forward to? Are you ready…to wait?
In Christ,
Cheri Gioe

Closet Clean-Out
September 26-October 4
The Fifth Graders are sponsoring their annual
Closet Clean-Out
project to help the St. Vincent de Paul store clothe the needy in our community.
Due to the recent flooding, the need is greater than ever for good, clean and usable clothing items.
During the week of Sept. 26th, students may bring in items in small
PLASTIC
(not paper) bags, or small cardboard boxes for transporting to school. If you have too many items for students to carry to school, you can drop them off at the
front gates ONLY on the mornings of the scheduled pick-up dates: Wednesday, September 28th and Tuesday, October 4th.
The last truck pickup will be Tuesday morning, so
NO ITEMS WILL BE ACCEPTED AFTER 8:00am on the MORNING OF TUESDAY, OCTOBER 4th.
All of us have something to share with God’s family in need.
Thank you for your generosity!

Family Night - September 27
Each year Most Blessed Sacrament School supports Family Night. This semester’s Family Night will be Tuesday, September 27. On this night, there will be no homework, and there will be no tests to study for on Wednesday.
We encourage you to take advantage of this time and spend it together as a family. Make every effort to sit down and eat dinner together. If possible, add a fun activity to your evening, like a board game or a walk around the block. Avoid electronics which will take the attention away from each other on this Family Night.
Research consistently finds that the more quality time kids spend with their family, the less likely they are to engage in delinquent behavior or abuse drugs and alcohol. Time together is time well-spent. We hope you enjoy this evening!

Feast Day Celebration - September 29
All Catholic Schools have been asked to celebrate their FEAST DAY. For MBS School, the feast that is most closely aligned with our naming of Most Blessed Sacrament is the
Feast of Corpus Christi,
which occurs each year during our summer break. We have set aside the last Thursday of September each year as a transfer date upon which we will celebrate our Feast and spend some prayer time with the Blessed Sacrament.
This year, we will celebrate our
Feast Day Mass at 8:10 am on Thursday, September 29th in MBS Church,
and we want to invite our parents and family members to join us for this celebration. At the end of Mass, following Communion, we will offer a short time of prayer before Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament. During this time of quiet music and prayer, we invite our parents to come pray for their individual family needs, for the success of our year as a Catholic School, and for the needs of all Parish and School families, especially during this time of rebuilding in our community.
