News Bulletin:
Budget Negotiations Continue
It's been quiet at the Capitol this week. The legislature is still hearing budget testimony on the Governor's proposed budget plan. This week the Economic Development, Public Protection, and Education Committees met and heard testimony.
Our Education Specialist, Marian Bott, testified before the Education Committee on Wednesday. She advocated for increased funding for high needs school districts and a review of the foundation aid formula. You can read her full testimony
here.
We are in the process of drafting testimony for the Public Protection Committee. This committee oversees the State Board of Elections. Our testimony will advocate for the Governor's voting proposals including early voting, automatic voter registration, and same day registration.
Sign & Share the Let NY Vote Petition
LetNYVote has launched a petition drive to urge Governor Cuomo to include funding for early voting in his budget amendments. This petition will be delivered to the Governor in the second week of February.
Share the petition with your friends! The coalition is hoping to get as many NY voter signatures as possible before Feb 14th.
