2.14.2021
Dear Parents and Guardians,

Happy Valentine's Day! Halfway through February is always a big deal. I like to say that I don’t care WHAT the calendar says, February feels like the longest month of the year!

Wednesday is Ash Wednesday, and the Catholic Church enters the season of preparation and atonement. We will walk with the Lord for the 40 days of Lent, and then through his passion and crucifixion. I know many people give things up for Lent, and I always struggled with what to give up - until recently. A few years ago I heard a homily that made it clear. If what you are doing for Lent isn’t bringing you closer to God, do something else.

We work hard at Trinity to give the students the chance to come closer to God. In spite of a pandemic, the important work of responsible participation in the global community continues. Share the Care (previously Share the Hair) was a big success last week, and students and faculty continue to work to find ways to make an impact outside our walls.

So much is happening at Trinity. Sports are back, registration is happening, vaccinations are happening, conferences are around the corner. Please read carefully so you don’t miss a thing.

We hope our students enjoy the day off for President’s Day. Stay warm and well, and keep the Trinity community in your prayers as we begin the work to prepare ourselves for Easter and the glorious resurrection of the Lord.

Warmly,
Laura
Parent Teacher Conferences
As we did in Block 1, once again we will host virtual Parent-Teacher Conferences. The Zoom conferences will take place on Wed. Feb. 24 and Thurs. Feb. 25. Parents are encouraged to schedule a 10-minute Zoom conference with any and all of their student's current teachers.

The conference schedule is below:

Wed. Feb. 24
  • Parent-Teacher Conferences may be scheduled from 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM.
  • Please note that there will be no virtual office hours for students this day.
  • Student clubs and activities will meet after 1:00 PM.

Thurs. Feb. 25
  • Students will be dismissed from class at 11:30 AM.
  • School transportation will be available. Buses will leave campus at 11:40 AM.
  • Parent-Teacher Conferences may be scheduled from 1:00 to 4:00 PM and from 4:30 - 7:30 PM.

As was the case in Block 1 parents can schedule their conferences online through a Pick-a-time, our scheduling platform. The registration window will be opened at 6:00 PM on Wed. Feb. 17. At that time, you will receive an email with a link to the scheduling platform, and a text message reminder that the window is open. Parents may schedule appointments until Feb. 22 at 9:00 AM.

On Mon. Feb. 22 teachers will email parents with a welcome letter or video, and a Zoom link to be used for the conference.

We look forward to meeting with you.

In-person vs. eLearning
Please note that families that have opted for in-person for Block 3 may not opt for temporary eLearning for a short-term basis. If an in-person learner stays at home on any given day, due to an illness or for any other reason, she will be marked as absent. This student may attend eClasses virtually that day, but the absence will "count." The only exception to this policy is if a student has a COVID-related absence. All COVID-related absences must be reported to Mrs. Rachel Meiner, COVID-19 Data Coordinator.
Academic Prep Tutoring
Parents, are your children struggling in a class? Do they need some help understanding an assignment or studying for a quiz? The Trinity High School Academic Prep Tutoring Center is here for you! General Tutoring Office Hours run on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays from 4 pm-5 pm via the Zoom link here. College Planning
College Exploration Opportunities for Sophomores and Juniors:
The National Association of College Admissions Counseling is hosting a series of virtual college fairs throughout February and March. This is a terrific way to learn more about college options with universities from across the country. Learn more here.
Some notes for the Class of 2021:
  • Seniors are reminded to share college acceptance and scholarship letters with Ms. Granholm. This information is recorded and used to help celebrate the Class of 2021 at Honors Convocation and Graduation. Seniors are asked to take a photo or screenshot of their acceptance and scholarship information and email it to Ms. Granholm.
  • This is an ideal time to apply for college scholarships! Trinity maintains a robust listing of scholarships on Naviance, and several scholarships are highlighted in Ms. Granholm's Weekly College Update email that Seniors receive each Monday. Please check in with your student to make sure she is taking advantage of these great opportunities for college funding.
