April 19, 2020 - Trinity Parent Newsletter
Letter from Trinity's President
Good evening Parents and Guardians!
We've had some wonderful, exciting things happening at Trinity. Maybe you've seen us on the news?

The Trinity teachers are, as we knew they would, delivering top-notch content. Leave it to them to realize that spectacular guest speakers like the kind featured in the Junior Leadership Class this past week, could join a Zoom classroom, and not have to fly to Chicago to meet the Blazers. And our Student Services department hit a home run with their  Virtual Calming Room .  Take a look at the variety of options the counselors have given the students for making sure they have ways to relax. Maybe these are things you would like to do also!

Of course, our biggest news was the announcement of the availability of funds to assist families who are in need of tuition assistance for the 2020-21 school year. Just like our counselors and teachers, the Board of Directors and Sinsinawa Dominican Sisters want to make sure that our Trinity family is well cared for. By allowing access to the Trinity Strategic Reserve Fund, we hope that our Blazers will all be back in the halls next year.

There are some specifics still being worked out. You will all receive a very detailed email on Monday, April 27th and all of your questions will be answered.

In the meantime, the Institutional Advancement Team is working overtime to try to get additional funds for this purpose. They have been promoting the #BlazerReliefFund and as of last night, more than  $121K   was raised by donors to add to the $1 million committed by Trinity. It is important to all of us that we have as much available as possible to help the greatest number of Blazers. You can help by contributing what you can by clicking here . See the YouTube video below that was aired at 3:33 PM on Saturday which supported the #BlazerReliefFund efforts.

IF YOU KNOW, SEE OR HEAR ABOUT AN OPPORTUNITY FOR CORPORATE OR FOUNDATION FUNDING, please direct these inquiries to Shena McNamara Keith at  skeith@trinityhs.org .

This community is going strong! We are so blessed to have the financial and spiritual support of such a vast network. Whether you can afford to donate at this time or not, remember that the most important thing you can do for us is keep us in your prayers. It is only through God's blessing that we continue to thrive in spite of the challenges. I ask daily for the intercession of the Blessed Mother to watch over the strong young women being formed by this community. Now I will add each of you to that prayer as well. It has never before been so apparent how interconnected we all are, and must remain. We're #InThisTogether, and #TrinityStrong throughout the hard times.

Thank you for all your support and prayers,
Laura Curley
President
It’s time to apply for the Norma Uscila Scholarship!

The Norma (Moca) Uscila Scholarship is named for a treasured past parent and fellow employee who had three daughters graduate from Trinity with honors. As a parent she encouraged their academic growth and participation in extracurricular activities: sports, service and leadership development. She wanted them to demonstrate their "girl power"!   The Uscila Family wanted her inspiration to carry on, so in her name they established the Norma (Moca) Uscila Scholarship Fund. This scholarship is offered to applicants who inspire others, who lead by example and demonstrate “girl power” every day, just as their mom did.    Click for more information.

Information from Trinity's Library
The gift of YA is that we adults were teens once — and we can relate. The best books are meaty enough for an adult to enjoy, full of believable characters and stories that pull you right along, and set in worlds that teens might want to inhabit. They make perfect fodder for the long days we have now as many of us are at home with our families." Here is the  link  to the article.

Remember that the Trinity Library is digital and available 24/7! We have eBooks and eAudiobooks through Sora, our OverDrive app, and through Follett's Destiny. Please email Ms. McGreal at  lmcgreal@trinityhs.org  for login instructions if you need them. Happy reading!"
