New Date! Friday, October 13, Jamba Juice Friday:
Due to a scheduling confusion, Jamba Juice Friday is rescheduled for tomorrow! It is sold on the ramp from 7:30-8:30am. All proceeds go toward helping fund Middle School special trips.
 
October 16-20, Fall Festival Ticket Pre-Sale Volunteers Needed:
We are in need of parent volunteers for Fall Festival Ticket Pre-sale! Volunteers are needed Monday, October 16-Friday, October 20 on the ramp to sell discounted pre-sale tickets. Shifts are scheduled for before and after school. Sign up on the sheets on the ramp by the school entrance. Remember, this task counts toward K-8 Family Participation Hours!

Fall Festival Hoedown is next Friday, October 27 from 4:00-7:00 on the Lower Patio & Dining Room!
Ticket Information:
-Discounted pre-sale tickets will be available Monday, October 16 - Friday, October 20!
-Buy tickets at the door on Friday, October 27
Volunteer opportunities - your help is needed for the Fall Festival to be a success!
-Sign-up to work at a game, prize room, Book Fair, etc. Sign-up board will be in front of the school soon!
-Bring in a cake for the Cake Walk! Bring cakes Friday morning, October 27.
-Bake sale items are needed to sell during the Fall Festival! Bring individually wrapped baked goods Friday morning, October 27 for the sale.
-Bring in your rummage sale items! Place items on the table in the hallway next to the office beginning on Monday, October 23.
-Wear your best Hoedown dress on Friday, October 27 to school! Students are welcome to dress in cowboy/cowgirl attire. Remember, no cowboy boots during school hours per free dress policy.
-Need a bandana or a cowboy hat to wear to the festival? Buy yours at the pre-sale ticket table by the school entrance.

Friday, October 27, Scholastic Book Fair Begins:
-Scholastic Book Fair begins Friday, October 27 at the Fall Festival
-October 27-November 3, Book Fair continues in the Geneva Room. Volunteers are needed to help with the book fair Monday-Friday, 3:15-5:00pm!
- Classroom Gifts: Look for your classroom gift bag at the Book Fair. Teachers have pre-selected books that you may choose to buy for your child's classroom. A donation sticker will be added to each book recognizing your child's gift. 
-For every 2 books sold, City Tree receives a FREE book!
-The online book fair will be available before the Fall Festival. Be on the lookout for more info soon!
 
Help Keep Our Classes Focused...
We have classes that begin as early at 8:20am and need your help keeping the noise level low on 3rd Avenue and the ramp to the school office. Sound carries very well in these areas, and students have trouble concentrating with the ambient noise level is higher. Help us, help them!
 
Hepatitis A Information Letter:
Mrs. Kennedy placed a letter in parent files this week regarding the recent Hepatitis A outbreak in San Diego. Please click here to read the letter and   click here to read information that the CDC provided regarding hand washing.
 
Pet & Animal Reminder for Parents:
Animals are not allowed in the school building , playgrounds , or near the entrance of the school without prior approval of teaching/administrative staff for educational purposes. This includes animals that are restrained or contained and is for the health and safety of our students and staff. We realize that this is an inconvenience for some, but because of our child care licensing laws that are established to protect children we ask for your full compliance.

Thursday, October 19, PTO Meeting:
The next PTO Meeting is Thursday, October 19 from 5:15-6:00pm in the Geneva Room. Childcare is provided for Preschool & K-8 students, we apologize there is no care available for infants. All Preschool and K-8 parents are encouraged to attend.

PTO Volunteers Needed!
We are filling volunteer positions for this school year's PTO. Look for the brightly colored signs by the school entrance and sign up to volunteer! Your participation makes our school better for your child and for all students. Two key position that still need to be filled are:

Students in grades K-8 are saying "Yes!" to healthy choices!  Join us Monday-Friday, October 23-27 as we encourage our students to live healthy.  Students will receive a sticker each day highlighting that positive choice. Daily themes:

Tuesday: Bee Discerning About Your Info
Wednesday: Active Kids are Healthy Kids, K-8 Jog-a-thon! 
Thursday: Use the Crosswalk, dress in safety theme clothing!  
Friday: You "Can" Make a Difference! Students are encouraged to bring canned goods for the McCain's mission trip to Houston and New Orleans. This day will kick off our 2-week food drive!
Volunteer Opportunities:
We are in need of parent volunteers before school from 8:00-8:30am every day during Health & Safety Week to help distribute and collect safety week quizzes on the ramp AND to assist with crosswalk patrol. Stop by office to sign up or email Sue Kennedy!

October 17-20, 6th Grade Camp:
Camp is nearly here! Be sure you sign permission for 6th grade camp on the blue field trip form that is  out on clipboards. We need 3-4 parents to drive to/from Jamul (approx. 40 minutes from City Tree). WE STILL NEED PARENT DRIVERS. If you can assist with driving, please add your name, number of passengers, and whether you can drive to/from camp on the field trip form. Students are expected back at school by 2:00pm. *Please plan to pick up your child upon his/her return from camp. October 18-20, 7th Grade Catalina Camp - NOTE: Camp Return Time Change:
Thanks to all parents who signed up to assist with transportation to/from our Catalina Ferry. As your students prepare for this field trip, please remember to sign permission on the clipboards. Students are required to wear their Wisdom t-shirts on the first day and bring a sack lunch along with their luggage. We will meet in the parking out at 5:00am for departure on October 18. We have had a small change in our return ferry schedule, and students are expected back on the mainland at about 12:00pm and back at school 2:30-3:00pm. *Please plan to pick up your child upon his/her return from Catalina. There will not be school for 7th grade after their return. Feel free to call the school office after 12:30pm for updates on return time. Please contact Mrs. Henzel  with questions.

Friday, October 27, 8th Grade Leadership Conference:
Our 8th grade class will be traveling to the ACSI leadership conference in Pasadena for a time of collaborative leaning with other Christian middle schools. There is no cost for this trip, but please be sure you have signed permission for the upcoming 8th grade trip to Pasadena for the ACSI leadership conference. The blue field trip form is out on clipboards soon. Lunch is provided, and be sure to wear your "ProVerbs of Wisdom" t-shirts! Meet in front of City Tree at 5:00am (please be on time). We expect to be back by 5:00-6:00pm. Feel free to call the school between 3:00-4:00 for an update on our return time. That evening is also the Fall Festival. If you wish to give permission for your child to be released upon return to the school to attend fall festival, please email Mrs. Henzel in advance. Otherwise, they will join the after school program until 6:00pm at which time, parents are expected to arrive. Contact Mrs. Henzel with any questions, and to give permission for your child to attend Fall Festival.

8th Grade Transition to High School:
Although it is the beginning of the year, it's not too early to begin thinking and planning for high school! This process can take time as you research, visit, and select the right school for your child. City Tree is here to help with that process! Please take time to check out the attached resources sheet help you get started with the high school transition and please do not hesitate to contact Mrs. Henzel for any assistance.

Preschool-8th gr students, family, and friends celebrated City Tree at City Tree Sunday this past weekend! We would like to thank everyone for attending and worshiping with us. Our students did a wonderful job singing, the band played beautifully!

Preschool celebrated Grandparents Day last week! We want to say thank you to all our grandparents and special guests for joining us in fellowship, light refreshments courtesy of Mrs. Bogan, and the special art project each family made. What a blessing you all are to our preschoolers!
