Week of November 7-10, City Tree Participates in Safety Drills !
Safety is important and City Tree Christian School is committed to keeping our students safe. All of our students will practice safety drills (fire, earthquake, and lockdown) during the week of November 7-10. We always evacuate to the Northeast parking lot on Elm & 3rd Avenue. Checking attendance is a critical step in ensuring that everyone is accounted for and has safely evacuated the building. Signing your student in and out daily is one of the best ways that you can be sure he/she is safe. Drills are important for both staff and students; they help all of us to know what to do should a real emergency happen. Safety drills are also a licensing requirement. The teachers do a good job at trying to keep the drills low key, but sometimes the noise of the alarm and change in routine can cause little ones do get upset. Please talk with your child and his/her teacher if you have concerns about this. Click here to read more about the Great ShakeOut. We planned our drills later than the official California Shakeout day because we have had Middle School students away at camps.

New Faces: Welcome Mrs. Kristine Tendvahl!
Kristine Tendvahl grew up in Minnesota, but moved to the San Diego area in 2002. She's married to the love of her life, Don, and they have two children. Kristine earned her BA and her multiple subject teaching credential from San Diego Christian College, and is adept at working with technology in the educational setting. Kristine loves teaching middle school because the kiddos are very inquisitive and are able to think more abstractly than younger students. Her experience and perspective on this age group make Mrs. Tendvahl a valuable addition to the middle school staff. Please welcome Mrs. Tendvahl the new Middle School Math and PE Teacher and K-7 Technology Teacher!

K-8 students have been celebrating Health & Safety Week! Students have learned about different safety protocols and how to make healthy choices with assemblies, quizzes, and other activities. Students also dressed up in safety-themed clothing so represent safety awareness and community helpers.

The 4th & 5th grade class practiced drawing and shading during a still life exercise in art class. Students depicted pumpkins and flowers in their art pieces to practice line drawing, shapes, and scale.
