Friday, December 1, Last Day of City Tree Christmas Shop:
-On Friday, December 1, the Christmas Shop will be open from 7:30-8:30am ONLY for anyone who would like to make a last minute purchase! Students must be accompanied by their parents for this last shopping day.

Friday, December 1, Jamba Juice Friday:
Jamba Juice Friday is the first Friday of every month! It is sold on the ramp from 7:30-8:30am. All proceeds go toward helping fund Middle School special trips.
 
Friday, December 1, Falcons Band Performs in Coronado Christmas Parade:
Join us as the City Tree Falcons Band performs in the Coronado Christmas Parade on Friday, December 1!
-Parade begins at 6pm
-Parade is on Orange Ave. starting at 8th Ave. at Spreckles Park, down to the Hotel Del, and loop back to Spreckles Park.
-NOTE: 4:30-5:00pm ARRIVAL TIME FOR STUDENTS PARTICIPATING IN THE PARADE IS FIRM!!
-Support the band: Tamales will be sold after the parade for $2.50 each and Mexican hot chocolate for $2! 
Come and support our school band and enjoy an evening of fellowship!
 
During December, Classroom Gift Trees:
Classroom gift trees can be found outside each classroom.
-Select ornament and get a special gift for your child's classroom
-Wrapped gifts are brought to school any day December 13-15
-Trees are located: Outside the door of each classroom in addition the Geneva Room door for Preschool/K-4 music and the K-8 after school program, end of 2nd floor hall for K-7 Art, and Middle School has one near their sign-in area in the hallway
 
Monday-Friday, December 4-8, Collection for Ladle Ministry:
At Christmas time, City Tree families are invited to bring items for our homeless neighbors. We are collecting:
-Small blanket
-Flashlights and batteries
-Socks
-Small sized toiletries
-Toothpaste and toothbrush
-Sewing kits
-Small Kleenex packages
-Small hand sanitizer
-Razors
-Combs
Collection boxes will be located on each floor outside of classrooms.
 
Wednesday, December 6, All School Ladle Christmas Card Making:
Preschool and K-8 students will partner to make special Christmas cards for our homeless and poor neighbors. These cards will be attached to special gift bags that will be handed out at FPC's Ladle Ministry.
-Card making will take place in Geneva Room from 8:30am-12:00pm
-Parent volunteers are needed, sign-up on classroom clipboards soon 
-Please bring in items for our gift bags, see list above!

Volunteers Needed for the FPC Nursery During the Holiday Season!
FPC is in need of volunteers in the nursery during the busy holiday season. If you are willing to serve with child care at any of the extra services, we would be grateful! Services include: Christmas Eve (both morning and evening), as well as the New Year's Eve service. Contact Peggy Gross if you would like to help.

Help Decorate the CTCS Scholarship Tree!
This year for Giving Tuesday, our goal is to raise $1,000 for the City Tree Scholarship Fund! All donations will benefit scholarship applicants and ensure that all children have the opportunity to receive a quality Christian education. Here's how it works:
-Make a donation in any amount below and receive the specified Christmas tree ornament:
$5 donation = Candy Cane Ornament
$10 donation = Bauble Ornament
$20 donation = Christmas Stocking Ornament
$50 donation = Fancy Decorative Bauble
$100 donation = Ornate Glass and Crystal Ornament
-Write your name (or child's name) on the ornament to show your support and hang it on the tree!
-Receive a mini candy cane and a chance to win a special prize with every donation! One out of every 7 donations is a winner!
-Volunteers Needed: PTO is in need of parent volunteers to help promote the Scholarship Tree before and after school. Contact the school office if you are available to assist.
Be on the lookout for the Scholarship Tree, it will be out sometime early this week on the ramp by the school entrance!

We are filling volunteer positions for this school year's PTO. Look for the brightly colored signs by the school entrance and sign up to volunteer! Your participation makes our school better for your child and for all students. Two key position that still need to be filled are:

Girls: Brightly colored Christmas dress, any color
Boys: Nice dress pants, white button-up dress shirt
Dress shoes preferable for both boys and girls.

The City Tree Falcons Band is performing in the Coronado Christmas Parade on Friday, December 1! Bring all your instruments, reeds, and cables and be ready to rock! Event details:
Arrival time: Students participating MUST ARRIVE and meet at the Spreckles Park gazebo NO LATER THAN 5:00PM - this time is FIRM!
Attire for all 5th-8th grade students:
-Attire: New band t-shirt and blue jeans or school blue pants (no black or any other color jeans), and red tennis shoes
- Details for Hair: Students will be given a hat for the parade. Please return the hat at the end of the parade so it can be used for the Christmas program. 
-Assigned 4th grade candy helper students will be provided their costumes 
-4th grade banner holders should wear blue jeans or school uniform pants with Christmas t-shirt

Students who have memorized the first 10 bible verses of the year will be celebrating at the Memory Verse Party! Students will be decorating cookies.

Calling all 4th-8th grade boys and girls! Forms and payment for boys and girls basketball were due Wednesday, November 8 but it's not too late to sign up!

Wednesday, December 6, Middle School Ice Skating:
Please see the attached flyer for our annual Middle School Ice Skating PE day. For their physical education activity, students will visit the Kroc Center Ice rink and usher in "winter"! Students should wear jeans, socks, and layers to school this day. Click here for more info.
 
Wednesday, December 6, Middle School "Wonder" Movie Field Trip:
Middle school students will be taking a field trip to UltraStar Theater at Hazard Center in Mission Valley to see the movie "Wonder" as a culminating activity for our recent Language Arts novel unit. The movie begins and 1:00pm and students will be transported to the theater by bus right after PE, and we hope to be back between 3:15-3:30pm. NOTE: THE EXPECTED RETURN TIME IS AFTER THE NORMAL DISMISSAL TIME FROM SCHOOL. We need parent help to drive students back to City Tree after the  movie. Please be sure to sign permission on your child's clipboard and include your name, email address, and how many passengers you can take if you are able to help with transportation. The cost for this trip is $9.00 due to homeroom teachers by Tuesday, December 5. Click here for the flyer.

The annual FPC Youth Group Christmas Party is happening on Saturday, December 9 and City Tree Middle School students are invited! Event details:
What time: 5:00-8:00pm
Dinner info: It will be a progressive dinner! Families are needed to host for appetizers, main courses, and desserts. We also need drivers to get to each stop along the way! Parents are invited to join us for our traditional Christmas Brunch from 8:20-10:20am. The 8th graders will be doing a Home Economics project with Mrs. Bogan beforehand to prepare some special dishes. Please check the clipboards and sign up for one or more of the brunch items needed. We need all families to sign up to bring something in order to make this a successful event. Please deliver all items to the West Room or West Room kitchen labeled Middle School Christmas Brunch. Preschool-8th gr students have been doing some Christmas shopping in the City Tree Christmas Shop! Students were given budgets to make holiday purchases for family and loved ones to give out at Christmas. Thank you PTO for hosting such a wonderful opportunity for our student to give!

Boys' basketball season is officially underway! Boys in grades 4-6 have been practicing and polishing their technique with Coach Webb for the last couple of weeks to prepare for their first game. We look forward to an awesome season!
