Friday, March 24, T-shirt Order for Military Child Month:
In April, City Tree will be celebrating the month of the Military Child! Order a special purple t-shirt to wear. Order details:
- Click here to download your order form or pick one up outside the school office. 
-Cost is $15 per t-shirt
- Order forms and payment are due Friday, March 24. Place orders in the t-shirt mailbox in the hallway. 
-T-shirts will be delivered to classrooms on Monday, April 3 to be worn for a special assembly on Fri, April 7!
-From April 7-June 13 purple shirts can be worn at any time as part of the CTCS uniform for the remainder of the school year!
-All military children will receive a FREE t-shirt, but please complete the form for sizing purposes.

Monday, April 3-Thursday, April 6, Student Council Easter Gram Sale:
Student Council will be selling Easter Grams Monday, April 3-Thursday, April 6! Candy-filled Easter eggs can be ordered for $1.00 and will be delivered to classes on Friday, April 7. Eggs will come with a message from the sender as well as a special Easter message from the Student Council. These will be for sale on the ramp before and after school. 
 
Thursday, April 6, All School Spring Picture Day:
Spring photos will be taking place on Thursday, April 6 with Sumner Photography.
-K-8 students will be allowed to wear free dress that day,  click here to read the Free Dress Policy.
-Payment is not required the day of Spring pictures 
-Volunteers needed: We need 2-3 parent volunteers as runners for Sumner photography. Please contact the school office if you are able to assist. 

April 28-30, FPC Women's Retreat:
City Tree moms are invited to attend the annual Women's Retreat at Mission San Luis Rey! Registration is now open for Friday, April 28-Sunday, April 30! Make sure to register soon, more than half of the spots are already filled! This year's topic is "Hope is in the House", with Arlene Pellicane as the speaker. Cost is $190, a deposit is required to register. Half scholarships are available. Click here to sign up and make a payment.

City Tree Summer Camp Info Coming Soon:
City Tree offers summer camps all summer long for children entering Kindergarten through 8th grade. We are in the process of planning great week-long camps for students! Information will be posted online soon and distributed to parent files. 

City Singers Featured in Clip on KUSI about Classics 4 Kids!
The City Tree Singers performed Irish Folk songs at the Classics 4 Kids Concerts on Thursday and Friday for a special St. Patrick's celebration. Our students appeared in a feature about the celebration on local news station KUSI! Click here to see the clip, you will see our wonderful singers at about minute 2:25. Great job, singers!

Our kindergarten students enjoy special classes each week with special teachers:
Music Class: 2 days per week- singing, movement, instruments, composers, special shows
Spanish Class: 2 days per week- conversation, grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation
Technology Class: 1 day per week- formatting graphics and texts, Word, Excel, Power Point basics
Art Class: biweekly- elements of art, various mediums, famous artists, thematic projects

-Claim ANY volunteer hours completed for volunteering time: collecting and soliciting donations, basket assembly, art projects, etc. 
-Don't forget to claim stickers for volunteer time you have already completed! 
-It's not too late to complete your hours! Talk to your child's teacher about how you can help.

Sunday, April 2, Grades 4 & 5 Jazz Band Students Performing at First Presbyterian Church:
We have been invited to perform during the two services at First Presbyterian Church on Sunday, April 2! This is a wonderful opportunity for our grade 4 & 5 Jazz Band students; your presence and the presence of your child in our church/school community is very important. Details:
When: Students must arrive at 7:45am and meet in the middle school building room 312. Report to Mrs. Irwig and get ready to set up and warm up in the Sanctuary's balcony.
Who: 4th & 5th grade Jazz Band students (along with Middle School) 
What to Wear: Red sports band uniform and red tennis shoes (if available).
What to Bring: Instrument, reeds, cables, and binder with music assigned.
Pick up time: Students may leave the service after the passing of the peace during the second service around 11:20am. Please pick up your child in room 312 in the middle school building. 

Monday, April 3, Kindergarten & Grade 1 Field Trip to Flower Fields:
Mrs. Whitelock's Kindergarten class and Mrs. Cramer's 1st grade class are visiting the Carlsbad Flower Fields. Field trip info:
When: Monday, April 3 
Departure: 8:30am, please arrive on time 
Return time: about 2:30pm 
Cost: $15, please pay teachers if you have not already 
Attire:
Kindergarten should wear their yellow, field trip shirt, jeans, and comfortable walking shoes.
First graders should wear a City Tree shirt, jeans, and comfortable walking shoes.
What to bring: Booster seats for carpooling and a sack lunch
Drivers needed: Sign up on the classroom clipboard to drive if you are available to help with carpooling to and from the trip.
Contact your child's teacher with any other questions you may have.

Tuesday, April 4, K-8 NOT-SO-FREE Dress Day:
Student Council is hosting "Not-so-Free" Dress Day on Tuesday, April 4! Students pay $2.00 to wear free dress, click here to read the free dress policy. Half of the money raised will be given to Ronald McDonald House Charities while the other half funds Student Council events.

Calling all City Tree students (and their parents) who participated in Volleyball & Basketball! The Annual Athletics Awards Dinner will be held on Tuesday, April 4 from 4:30-5:30pm in the Dining Room.
-Cost: $5.00 per person, pay in the office or at the door. Athletes and coaches are free!
-RSVP on clipboards, info will be out soon!

Even though these dates are a long way off it is helpful to mark them on your calendars now. Please avoid scheduling appointments during testing weeks! Students do better and feel more relaxed during testing, when they avoid make-up tests and are able to complete testing with their regular teachers.

Tuesday, April 4, 4:00-4:30pm Mandatory Grade 8 Washington DC Meeting: 
Please mark your calendars and plan to attend our FINAL Washington DC planning meeting on April 4 from 4:00-4:30pm in Room 312. All students MUST attend with at least 1 parent! Final itineraries will go out in parent files prior to this meeting. Parents and students should look at this information together and come to our meeting with questions. We will be reviewing key travel information and behavior policies at the meeting, but we will not go over all the content. You are also welcome to e-mail Mrs. Henzel ahead of time with questions as you review the information. For the safety of our travelers, we are not posting the itinerary in this e-mail or online. If you need additional copies, please stop by the office.

Each year, the yearbook committee collects baby photos and dedications for the graduating 8th grade class. There is a special section in the yearbook where these dedications are featured. Please take time to read the attached letter along with the sample layout from our yearbook dedications coordinator and be sure to send your dedication and photo BEFORE the April 20 deadline in order to ensure your child has a special section in the yearbook. Note: If you need to scan your photo or dedication, feel free to bring it by the office and we can scan it for you!

The 7th grade class wrapped up their Life Skills class this week with Career Day. They had guest speakers: Jodi Kodesh, a meteorologist at NBC 7 San Diego; Will Nevilles a military veteran and owner of his own company and Tim Dehnert a singer/songwriter from L.A. who shared about their career paths and experiences.

Mrs. Janell & the Little Blessings class have ushered in spring with a fun table time project. Students painted a paper pinwheel with fun spring colors. They had a lot of fun mixing their colors and painting!
