Friday, April 13, Last Day of Penny Wars: 
Don't forget to bring in your spare change for the LAST DAY of Penny Wars! All proceed of Penny Wars goes toward student activities & disaster relief. Things to remember: 
-Pennies are "positive" points
-Silver coins (nickles, dimes, quarters, etc.) are "negative" points
-At the end of the day Friday, April 13, all coins/points will be tallied and the class with the most points will win a pizza party! 
Get those coins in and thank you to everyone who has already supported this event!

Join us to see the City Tree Falcons Jazz Band & Middle School perform at First Pres at both the 8:30am & 11:00am!

Wednesday, April 18, Pancakes for Parker!
Join us as we raise money for our preschool friend Parker as he fights Leukemia. Money raised will go towards a fun outing for Parker and his family so he can spend some fun time just being a kid! Details about the breakfast:
-Pancake breakfast in the Dining Room ( note location change) on Wednesday, April 18th from 7:30-9:00am 
- Please come with your child on Wednesday morning and enjoy a breakfast of pancakes, bacon, fruit and juice for $5 per plate.
-
You can pay for pancakes the day of or order them ahead for your child to enjoy during their morning snack, recess, or nutrition break.
-Be on the lookout for Student Council representatives on the ramp coordinating the pre-sale early next week!

Donations Needed for Pancakes for Parker! 
Not able to make Pancakes for Parker? You can still help two ways!
- Pre-order pancakes for your child that will be delivered to them during their morning snack! Student Council will be on the ramp early next week for the pre-sale. 
-Here is what we need:
Bags of pancake mix and syrup for pancakes 
Bacon
Assorted fruit
Orange juice
Paper plates
Plastic forks, knives, and cups 
Napkins
Donated items must be dropped off at the school office by Tuesday, April 17. Thank you all in advance for participating. We look forward to seeing you there!
 
Thursday, April 19, All School Multicultural Fair:
Come travel the world at City Tree for the annual Multicultural Fair! Pick up your child FIRST, then start at your child's classroom display to pick up your passport!
3:30-4:45pm:
-Visit the Preschool Art show and learn about Homes Around the World! in room 303. 
-Visit K-8 country displays and learn about the world with your child in classrooms & the West Room!
4:15-5:30pm:
-Celebrate our students' accomplishments by joining together for a Mexican Taco dinner in the Dining room. Proceeds will benefit the band. Click here for more details

Wednesday, April 18, Last Day to Submit Scholarship Application:
K-8 families applying for scholarship for the 2017-2018 school year, the last day to submit completed scholarship application is Wednesday, April 18. Here is what you must turn in:
-Completed Scholarship Application ( click here for scholarship info and application)
-Copy of 2017 Tax Returns
In addition, all students applying for scholarships need to be fully registered for fall 2017 which includes:
-Completed 2018-2019 registration forms ( click here read more about the online enrollment process if you have not already started)
-Registration payment
Please turn in everything to the office on time. This is a firm deadline! Office hours are Monday-Friday, 7:30am-4:00pm. City Tree scholarships are generally reserved for students entering grades K-8 since access to alternative forms of financial aid are available to preschool students.

Monday, April 30, Last Day to Receive Early Registration Discounts for Summer Camps:
Receive $20 off per week of summer camp if you register online and pay deposits by Monday, April 30!

Monday, April 30, Last Day to Enroll for 2018-2019 at Discounted Rate:
April 30 is the last day that all students may register for the 2018-2019 school year at the discounted registration rates! Prices go up May 1 and space is limited! Click here begin the ONLINE re-enrollment process if you have not already started. Enroll soon, reserve your spot for the Fall!

Yearbook Photos Needed!
Calling all parents! If you have any photos that can be used in this year's yearbook, please email them to parent coordinator Suzy Walls via email, or bring them to the office on a disk or thumb drive. Photos of field trips, sporting events, & school events needed!

City Tree Scholarship Fund:
Please consider giving a tax deductible gift to City Tree's Scholarship Fund. This fund allows our school to provide an outstanding Christian education to children who might otherwise be unable to attend. Our goal this year is to raise $50,000! Your gifts in the past have made a significant difference in children's lives. Donate online by clicking here or use a donation envelope found outside the school office that can be placed in the silver mailboxes in the hallway nearby.

Friday, April 13, Last Day of Vision Screening for Preschool Age 3-5:
A FREE vision screening is being provided for Preschool students, ages 3-5 years old, on April 11-13. California-Hawaii Elks Major Project is a non-profit organization that offers free vision screening to children throughout California. Next week the Preschool is celebrating NAEYC's Week of the Young Child where we celebrate our youngest learners! Here are the highlights of the week:

Monday, April 30, Preschool Summer Notice of Intent DUE:
Summer is just around the corner and we are already thinking about our fun summertime activities in the Preschool program! We understand that you are doing planning yourself and we hope it includes the continual attendance at City Tree this
summer. We also understand that you may have plans that could take you away for the summer so we wanted to remind you of the summer withdrawal policy should you need it. Important note:
- Click here and take a moment to complete the e-form regarding your child's summer attendance. Submit NO LATER than Monday, April 30th! Regardless of your summer plans, this form is REQUIRED.
-This form is not intended for infant families! Only applies to our Preschool students ages 2-5.
-If you are planning to withdraw for all or part of summer, we require a 4-week written notice (the submission of the form is a form of notice). Tuition is not prorated for partial month enrollment. Notice is due Monday, April 30.
-Remember: This withdrawal notice DOES NOT affect your child's registration status for the 2018-2019 school year which begins Monday, August 27.
Feel free to stop by the office with any questions regarding the summer withdrawal policy. And for those of you staying through the summer, we look forward to lots of summer fun with your child!

Even though this date is a long way off it is helpful to mark it on your calendars now. Please avoid scheduling appointments during testing weeks! Students do better and feel more relaxed during testing, when they avoid make-up tests and are able to complete testing with their regular teachers.

Report Cards Distributed...
Report cards went out by email on Friday, April 6 to all parents whose accounts are clear. If you did not receive a report card in your email, please check your junk/spam folders first, and then contact the office. If you owe money or an item to the office, please clear your account and pick up a hard copy of your child's report card.

Girls' Basketball Uniforms are PAST DUE - Turn in to office ASAP!

TODAY Thursday, April 12, Grades 6 & 7 Field Trips Week Money Due:
Field trips week for 6th & 7th grade is April 23-27! This is the time of year when our 6th & 7th grade students have
 
the opportunity to participate in a number of enriching and exciting learning outside the classroom! Check out the scheduled trips and look for permission slips and associated costs on your child's clipboard.
-Students in 6th grade must submit a total of $28.00 
-Students in 7th grade a total of $33.00
-Field trip payment can be in cash or check made out to City Tree and submitted to homeroom teacher
-This covers the costs of all scheduled field trips. 
-Note: The Old Town field trip includes lunch and requires students to calculate the cost of their meal. Students will receive change after this event.
-We need parent chaperones and drivers for some of these trips. Please sign up on the clipboards if you can help!

TOMORROW, Friday, April 13, 8th Grade Dedications and Photos DUE:
Each year, the yearbook committee collects baby photos and dedications for the graduating 8th grade class. There is a special section in the yearbook where these dedications are featured. Please take time to  read the attached letter along with the sample layout from our yearbook dedications coordinator and be sure to send your dedication and photo BEFORE the April 13 deadline in order to ensure your child has a special section in the yearbook. Note: If you need to scan your photo or dedication, feel free to bring it by the office and we can scan it for you! Otherwise, please use the email in the attached letter to submit.

TOMORROW, Friday, April 13, Middle School Honor Roll Recognition:
Parents are invited to attend our 3rd quarter honor roll recognition chapel on Friday, April 13. If your child has earned honor roll status, you will be notified by Wednesday, April 11. Chapel begins at 10:30. Hope to see you there!

On Wednesday, April 18, Middle School students will undergo our twice annual fitness testing here at City Tree. We need 2-3 parents volunteers to assist our staff and help make this testing session go smoothly. Help is needed from 1:15-3:15pm that day, please contact Mrs. Henzel via email if you are available to volunteer.

Wednesday, May 2, Swimming PE Unit Begins:
Each year our students have a wonderful opportunity, as part of their Physical Education program, to participate in swimming instruction at the Kroc Center. This unit will begin May 2 and continue through the end of the school year. It is important that all families read the attached swimwear and gear requirements in advance to be prepared for the first day of swimming. For more information, please contact Mrs. Tendvahl and Mrs. Henzel with questions.

Students in grades 1-8 tested their physical fitness this week at the Mile Fun Run! Students ran a mile to promote cardiovascular health and compete part of their Presidential Fitness Testing for the school year.

Student Council has been tracking the progress being made during the Penny Wars! Each K-8 class has an opportunity to raise money for student activities and disaster relief by bringing their spare change to school. Pennies count as  "positive points" where as silver coins count as "negative points" - the battle has been heated this week! Final tally will be counted tomorrow so make sure to bring in those coins!
