Tuition Statement Update, 1st Tuition Payment DUE:
We are in the process of switching our data management and billing system to RenWeb. In the past, our first tuition bill for the new school year came out in the end of July and were mailed to your home so that you could pay tuition by the August 1 due date. Since the transition to this new system is taking some time, here are some details on what to expect:
- We are expecting tuition bills to be delivered through EMAIL (not US mail) between August 4-7. We will be using the emails we have on file. If you do not think we have your current email please contact Amanda Ochoa with your updated email information.
-Due to the later arrival of your bill, we will not require tuition payment until Thursday, August 10.
- Late fees will be added on Tuesday, August 15.
-All future tuition payments will be due on the 1st of the month per tuition agreement.
-If you still have not registered for the 2017-2018 school year, it is very important that you do so NOW as we are quickly approaching the beginning of the school year. Click here to download the proper enrollment packet. Submit all paperwork and registration payment to the office as soon as possible. Contact the office if you have any questions.
Please be on the lookout for more information about RenWeb and specifically the parent portal that will soon be available to you!

Excuse our Mess!
During the summer months is the time we do lots of deep cleaning, floor waxing, painting, and repairs. When our custodial crew is cleaning a classroom they move the furniture out in the hallways. When your child's classroom is being cleaned they will typically be relocated for 2-3 days to another room. Thanks for your understanding!

Immunization Records for Kindergarten and 7th Grade Due:
California law requires students entering Kindergarten to have an up-to-date shot record on file and students entering 7th grade must be immunized with a pertussis (whooping cough) vaccine booster called T-dap. Pertussis is a very contagious respiratory disease that can be severe and last for months. Immunization with T-dap can protect students, schools and communities against pertussis. These requirements affect all City Tree students entering Kindergarten & 7th grade. Parents must provide the school with proof of immunization for all new students, entering Kindergarteners, and entering 7th graders prior to the first day of school. We encourage parents to plan ahead and make appointments for these immunizations as soon as possible. The California Department of Public Health's website, Shots for School, provides extensive information,   click here for their website.

-Room Parent Coordinator

If you are willing to take on any of these specific positions or just serve where needed most, please contact Peter Tucker or Sue Kennedy with questions .

Calling All Students Entering Grades 6-8 in the Fall...
Summer is here, and as your family makes plans July and August, we wanted to provide some important information to consider as you look ahead to next year. Whether your child is going into 6th, 7th or 8th grade, there several key things you can do as a family over the summer months to usher in the start to a successful new year.
Reading Requirements:
This summer all middle school students are being asked to select and read and respond to one award winning book of their choice (fiction or non-fiction). It can be any award and any age appropriate book.
Writing Requirements:
Students created a summer writing journal to take home with them complete with writing prompts. This has information for how to respond to the book they choose to read. In general though, students must have 1 entry per chapter, unless their book has more than 20 chapters. In that case, students are only required to complete 20 entries. Click here for a copy of the writing prompts. Students should bring their journal to school on the first day back in the fall. Please contact Mrs. Henzel with any questions about this summer enrichment assignment.
Middle School Summer Reading Resources:
Studies show that students who are engaged academically during the summer months are more likely to start the school year successfully. Students entering 7th and 8th grades are strongly encouraged to select books within their lexile range (this is information that students already have). Lexile information can be checked by visiting www.lexile.com. Visit one of these links for reading lists:
-You can also visit your local library!
Help your child get a good start to this summer project by selecting a book early in the summer. Completing this summer reading will allow students to exercise their critical thinking muscles over the summer and get a solid start to the new school year.

Middle School Summer Checklist:
Be on the lookout for our summer checklist and back to school letter in August. We look forward to a new and exciting year! Check out the  attached checklists for middle school preparedness for other helpful summer tips to ready your student for the fall.
