Sign-in/out Reminders:
Parents please remember to sign your child in and out on the classroom clipboard each day. It is important that you write the time in and out, signatures, and the emergency phone number for the day. Please do not write "mom" or "dad" as the signature - these are documents that are required by CA state licensing and MUST be filled in correctly. It is also important to have an accurate phone number for the day because this is the first number we use in the event your child is sick or you need to be reached immediately.

Parent Files:
Please check your child's parent folder daily. Parent folders are located in the sign-in area for each class with your child's name clearly labeled on the folder. This is where we put important print communication about upcoming field trips, special meetings, your monthly tuition bill, and other important school and classroom correspondence. Electronic communication is done through the Brightwheel App and the weekly newsletter to your email account. Please update your email with the office and teacher if it has changed and be sure to register on Brightwheel to receive pictures and individual communication about your child.

Friday, Sept 15, Last Day of Grades 1-3 MAP Testing
Monday-Friday, September 18-22, Grades 4-8 MAP Testing
Things to Remember During MAP Testing:
-Make sure your child is well rested on school days and especially the day of the test. Children who are tired are less able to pay attention in class or to handle the demands of a test.
-Give your child a well-rounded diet. A healthy body leads to a healthy, active mind. It is especially helpful if students eat a good breakfast on testing days.
-Arrive on time to school. This allows your child to start the day with less stress and allows for more success.
-Please keep in mind that test scores give only one picture of how your child is doing in school, and many things can affect a student's test scores. Therefore it is important to consider other kinds of information about your student as well.
-MAP Test scores will be shared with you during fall parent-teacher conferences.
-If you have any questions, please contact your child's teacher or the testing coordinator.
-Please avoid scheduling appointments during testing weeks.

Middle School Communication:
All middle school students have a google classroom account set up for them, and have logged on multiple times. Google Classroom will be a hub for teacher/student communication, and for those who are returning middle school students, takes the place of the homework board. It will take some time for students to become proficient at using Google Classroom well. Each weekend, students are required to visit their google classes and record homework in their planners for the upcoming week. We hope you have all had a chance to login with your child to begin to become familiar with google classroom.
A Few FAQ's:
What are my child's login credentials? - Your child has these and should be able to log in. Please ask him/her to share them with you and keep them in a safe place at home.
What should my child do with Google classroom info? - We want the physical planner to be a real time, immediate tool for students. Students should visit google classroom on the weekends and homework for the upcoming week into their planners. However, planners should be updated regularly in class and used as the first resource to check due dates.
Where is work posted? - There are multiple ways to check work. 1) From the menu in the upper left of the home screen click on Calendar. Be sure your child selects the correct week to view when in calendar mode. 2) From the home page, click on the assignments that are summarized under each class title 3) Click on each class and read the Stream.
Feel free to email Mrs. Henzel with any specific questions about Google Classroom use or to make an appointment to receive help on google classroom.
